    Default Mother In Law Drama

My mother in law is loosing it over the fact that we are not changing my daughters last name to his. He knows that his family is crazy so he understands why i don't want to change it. Now she is trying to hold our income tax check hostage she only wants to give us the copies of our refund check!?!!?!?!?! The irs said there is nothing that we can do his dad can cash it since he has the same name. i thought the irs stayed on it! i guess only if you don't pay your taxes...

Uh just because you have the same name doesn't mean you can cash it legally. First off, does your husband have a Jr. after his name? If so the check should say Jr. The check belongs to a unique social security number. I'd call the IRS and see if they can reissue a check.

they are the type that would find a way to illegally cash it his mom comes off as a sweet old lady but shes really a scandelous old hag with nothing better to do... He's calling tommorow to try to get another check.

If that doesn't work, then maybe lie to her and say that you are changing the name and then be like "PSYCH!!" when she gives the check back.

You might also try the Post Office--opening another's mail without permission, and the police department--forgery and robbery.

he decided to trust his uncle to do his taxes i'd rather not save $250 and get it done right... how his mom got the letter well that baffles me as much as how did they send his refund off if he didn't sign it himself? forging his name i guess, and he does have a jr. after his name but i'm telling you these people find a way around everything... yes i would love to turn her in for opening our mail.

Tell your "Monster-in-law" that what she is doing is illegal and you won't think twice about having her "post rigor mortis ass" turned into the police.

I feel for you rhh, my mother-in-law is the Wicked Witch of Greenpoint. She's a misrable woman who wants everyone to misrable with her. And if you're not already misrable, she will find a way to make you misrable. She also thrives on drama.

Keep trying to get the IRS and the law on your side and good luck to you.

I suggest that you cover your ass and be ready to take legal action, as well as make it clear that you intend to do so. She has gotten away with plenty of shit in the past, and has shown that she has no qualms about being an evil bitch.

Remember: abuse is abuse is abuse. Just because they are family does not make it okay, of that you should give them leeway.
