    My favorites are:
    Dean Martin-Ain't that a kick/Mambo Italiano/Dream a Little Dream of Me
    Frank Sinatra- Lady's a Tramp/Luck be a Lady
Sammy Davis Jr.- That 'ol Black Magic
    Anything by Elvis Presley

I don't think I have an all time fave artist(s) and/or song(s) from those time periods... I was raised on a lot of the music from those decades... moreso the '60s but still.

I do have all time faves to perform to, though... I hope that counts.

Frank Sinatra - Lady Is A Tramp
Frank Sinatra - Luck Be A Lady
Frank Sinatra - The Best Is Yet To Come
Marilyn Monroe - Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend
Marilyn Monroe - Some Like It Hot
    Peggy Lee - Fever
Tony Bennett - The Best Is Yet To Come (he does a very good cover of this!)
Number of times Rickrolled on stage: 6

    Marasmus ... "Ladies don't fart. They butt-laugh."
Marasmus says, "Oh no, that wasn't gas, it was merely a rectal chuckle."

Marek says, "A friend of mine got punched in the face by a dominatrix stripper about two weeks ago and I thought of you."

I just checked it out after I read your post. One of my all time faves is on there; Wheel of Fortune by Kay Starr. Great tune.

And in that case, you oughta check out the movie. The way they match the tunes to the scenes in the movie, and parts of those tunes, just rips. Wheel of Fortune is one good example.

Glad to point to something likable.

When I was a kid, I was heavily into comedy, so any chance I could get my hands on any comedian's recordings, I would beg until my parents caved. I managed to get an old Abbot and Costello Radio Show recording, and became quite fond of "Besame Mucho" but I can't remember who the lady was that sang it. She was popluar in the 40s though.

As for the 50s, never quite got into it.

60s I like a lot of The Who, and later The Doors stuff, with some Rolling Stones thrown in (I love "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'")

Due to my mother's influence, I have a huge soft spot for Elvis, and all the girl groups. Chiffons, Dixie Cups, Shangri-La's, etc. There are a few excellent Rhino compilations that make me groove around madly. Recently the local oldies stations have shifted decades, playing more 60's/70's and shying away from the older doo-wop. It makes me sad.

I was very privleged to see the Shangri-La's a few years ago at an oldies concert.

They came out onto the stage on the backs of Harleys and they kicked ASS!

"I'm gonna walk right up to him; give him a great big kiss...MUAH"!

You can't go wrong with anything by the Shangri-Las.

If you love girl groups pick up those Rhino compilations. If you like garage rock, either of the Nuggets sets will get you started.

I make my own compilations. I must have around 10,000 songs in my database now. And my oldies file is HUGE, because I'm such a fan. But the jewels, kept in my mom's basement, are the family's 45 collection. Thousands of them. Don't know why I keep them. They are just full of memories, I guess.

In fact, those oldie files are the ones that get requested the most when I'm asked to make CD's for someone.
