Default does this make your "cheap-meter" go off?

you sit down with a customer. after a few minutes of conversation he asks if you'd like a drink. you say yes. he responds with "it's not going to be a (x ammount) dollar drink is it??"

this always makes me ask for the dance quicker so that i can get out of there faster if he says no. does it scream "cheap" to any of the rest of you or am i being too judgemental?

Of course it's cheap. Does that actually happen? In that case, I think I'd be inclined to give a little smile and wink and say something like, "You'd rather save your money for dances, huh? You know what, forget the drink. Let's go right to the fun."

That's good. I'm gonna try that. I've sat with plenty of those guys before. I normally just say, "I don't know. I've never bought one....." Because by that point, I'm over the guy. And if a guy won't even buy me a drink. Forget it, unless he wants a dance right away.

I totally agree, but it seems like at our club if a guy won't buy you a drink he won't part with money for a dance. They seem to think they're a godsend for that dollar on stage.

Not necessarily, but I start looking for other signs that he will or won't spend. I have a customer who pays me $$$$$ just for talking, who ALWAYS complains about the drink prices, and wants to taste my drink to make sure there's really alchohol in it, accuses the waitress of watering my drinks down, and so on. Sometimes guys with money can be really tight-fisted...these types don't buy dances randomly. They have to be convinced that you're the one they want before they spend money. Still, don't spend more time than usual making the sale...if they want you, they'll make their mind up quickly.

Yes. It is a red flag. I can't stand it when this happens. It's not like WE set the drink prices! If you have a problem with the price, talk to the mgmnt. Don't make the dancer feel uncomfortable for ordering a drink if you OFFERED to buy her one!

It is true that if the guy is whining about drink prices, then he may be too cheap to spend on dances too. BUT...this is a good line and I'll have to remember to use it, because you never know. Yeah, the guy may be too cheap to buy YOU a drink, but he may not be so cheap as to not buy a dance for HIMSELF.

I really do like this line. I may even try to use it when they offer to buy a drink for me. Just adapt it a little.

well to be fair there are some places that charge 10 or 20 for a dancer drink sometimes fake at that. so maybe thats what they mean. not always but i have run into guys that have had that experiance and dont want to pay that much but will gladly buy a drink thats not so inflated.

True. Very true. I agreee with that. But I was referring to the ones who pay $5 for a diet coke.

Most places charge over $10 for a drink, regardless of what's in it. If the girl is a minor, her drink should be alcohol free anyway. Me? I rarely get anything besides water, Diet Coke, or OJ. It's not really the drink he's paying for, but the pleasure of sitting with me and making conversations. Most guys know this, but some like to play dumb when the waitress comes over. Cheap cheap cheap!

That IS a good response, Yek. I'm going start using it.

But ugh, I wish they'd ALL just save their $$ for dances! Last night every single guy I sat with started bitching and whining when I tried to order water or diet coke. I ended up ordering alcohol just to shut them up and keep them happy...then going "oh, i have to go ask the DJ for my songs, be right back!" and tossing the shots in the trash bin in the DJ booth. Or giving them to the house mom. It worked--they thought they were getting me tipsy, and I ended up getting dances from most of them.

Blargh. Drinks piss me off sometimes. I'm trying to lose weight ok? I don't need 475647956874 calories of alcohol every night.

I always say "Do I look like I pay for my own drinks?" with a grin...

The club I'm at now charges $10 for ladies drinks. No matter what...glass of wine, rum and coke, water..$10. When ever a custie asks why I tell them that it is so nobody can complain that a girl is milking them by ordering the most expensive drink..and so no girl CAN milk them by ordering the most expensive drink. Keeps an even playing field. Every guy so far has been fine with that explenation.

I had one guy come up to me and tell me that he would buy me a drink "as long as its a cheap one"...ugh. then proceeded to ask when I was going to go out with him(after saying he doesnt get dances because he doesnt "have to"..bleh). I said "where are we going cheap ass..McDonalds?"

Although I do like Yek's response if they bitch anyway...if nothing else, I'll know to move on if he says no.

Yes it reeks of cheap to me. I do a similar thing to Yek's suggestion, and say something like "you know I'd rather skip the drink anyone and get right to the dances!" Wink wink nudge nudge. It's a quick easy way cut right to the chase and see if he's buying or not

Some of those types don't want to buy dances, and some as Velvet says have been gouged by overpriced drinks, or had a dancer order some ridiculously priced drink like a Louis XIII cognac just to take advantage.

When I get these types I try to cut through the chase after the drink comes and we've talked for a song, and get to the dances. if they say they don't get dances, or some other lame excuse, I say thank you and off I go.

Screams cheap. I don't know how guys can do this. If I were a man, I'd feel like such a chump saying that to a chick.

I wanna say that it sounds cheap. I really do, but these guys have probably gotten shit on before.

When it happens to me, it is definitely a turn off!!

I don't mind buying a dancer a drink IF she wants one or IF she has to sell a certain number of drinks per night. But if the waitress comes by and asks me, "Would you like to buy Straykat a drink," I usually ask Straykat if she wants the drink or would rather have the money for a tip. Interestingly enough, it's about 50-50.

^^ It's nice that you do that.

I was sitting with a man once. He offered to buy me a drink, so I ordered a water. I don't drink alcohol at all, and I love water. It's $6 for a bottle water. Steep, I know, but you're going to pay the same price for booze anyway. Well after I get my water the guy was all " $6 for a bottle of water?!! That's ridiculous!!! wah wah wah wah wah..." and he totally tried to make me feel bad for ordering a bottle of water! I got the hell away from him. Fast. Cheapass. I don't need that shit. For real.
