    Default Tazorac

So my derm. prescribed me tazorac to get rid of the little colorless bumps ALL over my forhead...well its working but that aint all its doing. He warned me about the 2 week purging and dryness but holy crap! My skin burns even when i just put on moisterizer or foundation, its peeling everywhere and hello cystic acne. I want the perfect skin it will give me but I dont know if i can stand looking like a burn patient for the next week and a half. Anyone else use this? Any tips?

You might want to use it just a little less, and ease yourself into it. Also, be careful around the sun. Either only use it at night or put sunscreen over it. If you can get used to it, its a total miracle. It made my skin perfect when my hormones were raging as a teenager. Oh yeah, and read the warnings on the package. If something happens where it advises you to call the doctor, don't hesitate.

But yeah, the purging stuff happened to me too. You might want to try a really gentle wash and lotion. I recomend Cetephil, and so did my derm.

I have that cream but I don't use it religiously like my derm reccomended, plus I really don't need it that much bc I did Accutane. But I did read somewhere that after 2-3 weeks that's when it starts to work wonders. I say stick to it after several weeks. Don't apply it on every night so you don't have to feel that burning sensation. What I would do is use that one night, and the next night i'd slap some vit. e or jojoba oil all over my face to calm(and make skin look more smoother) the burning sensation.

    Good luck with it.

i used tazorac to get rid of my horrendous teenage acne... it was a dream! i guess that maybe you shold use it a little less or use it with an unscented facial moisturizer.

You're not using it everyday are you? When I first got Tazorac my doctor told me to start out slow and then increase the usage. Like for the first week just use it one or two days, then next week use it two or three days, etc. At least I'm pretty sure that's what I was told, I don't know where the prescription is so I can't read it word for word. I use it every other day now and while I occasionally get some dryness there isn't any burning.

Tazorac was my miracle. It cleared up my cystic acne 100% in two or three months. This is very strong stuff.I was instructed to wash my face with a gentle cleaner such as nutrogena acne wash and completely dry. Then the key is to moisterize really good with an oil free moisturizer. Then u take a pea sized amount of tazorac. When i fisrt started using tazorac i used way more and my face paid for it.so i started taking a pea size amount on my pionter, closing the tube and putting the tazorac away to fight the temptation of using more. Then i used what i had on my finger and dotted it on my forhead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Then i patted the creme in.DO NOT RUB IN! Good luck with this stuff.
