    Default getting fitter or fatter?

What a fucking dickhead. I fired this personal trainer weeks ago coz he was effin hopeless. Well unofficially I fired him, I just have ignored all his texts etc.

He just messaged me saying "hows the gym going, getting fitter or fatter?"

What a fucking cockhead. I have never been fat a day in my life and that includes before I ever started going to the gym. I only did 2 sessions with him how dare he speak to me like that.

I know he prob didn't mean it that way but I have suffered from an eating disorder which I am not completely over and you just cannot say the word FAT to me in any context whether its joking or not.

Maybe I should complain to the gym about his text.

I would complain if it offended you. I had a session with a trainer like that.
He made comments like, so, what'd you throw up for breakfast today?

take it with a grain of salt.

    breath.

tell him to stop contacting you, and leave it at that, i imagine hes not meaning it in a nasty way, my partner done one of those stupid money sucking bs AIF personal training courses, and they are told to say shit like that to keep customers wanting to work out.

lol. good reason why the second that course finished i told in no fucking way was he gonna do personal training!

I wouldn't try to get him fired or anything. I don't think he meant it in an insulting way, he's probably just a little stupid and doesn't know how to talk to women. I'd still get a new trainer if I were you. One that doesnt make such boneheaded remarks. You want someone who is going to mesh well with your personality and this guy just isn't it.

Geez...I wonder how much personal training experience this Bozo actually has? How unprofessional! Does he say the same thing to fat people? I would complain, and look for somebody who knows how to talk to his clients pronto! That was rude in my opinion.

So you still havn't resolved the original issue have you. The issue of being assertive and not a door-mat.

WHY DIDN'T YOU TEXT HIM TO TELL HIM THAT YOU WANTED SOMEONE ELSE TO TRAIN YOU?

    It is quite simple really.

    You text:

Thank you for your PT sessions however I feel that we do not connect in a way that I would like with a PT. I will be seeking PT sessions from someone else now, thank you.

    PRESS SEND.

    THE END.

He would never have contacted you if you had sent that message!!!!!!!

It's a business relationship. You are not dating the guy so you need not be concerned about his feelings. If he is a professional (which he obviously is not), then he will realise "you win some and you loose some" just like we do in the club.

If you're not close to the guy, then yeah, I'd be offended. I've been lucky enough to find a great PT and he's become more like a friend now than a trainer so if he sent me something like that I'd just laugh because I know it'd be a joke. But this guy just sounds like a dick.

I love it GCG, you're always so assertive and mature. I agree about being upfront Jaizaine, I remember your earlier post about this. I've learned this from experience with this type of situation: you don't have much place to complain about someone being aggressive with you if you won't at least be assertive back.

I had an ex who was constantly pestering me. I wouldn't even pick up the phone, answer his texts, or respond to his e-mails. Totally passive. He got meaner and meaner, until he was actually getting to me with his comments. I learned that I should have nipped it in the bud right away.

ETA: when I finally did confront him and politely tell him I wasn't interested and to stop contacting me, he never did again.

I'd report him, he needs to be taught a lesson. Probably all he'll get is a slap on the wrist, but he could do it to someone else then get in real trouble. That's just not right. Call the gym.

Well, you should have acted like an adult in the first place, by cancelling with him, not just being a no show no call. You acted like a child, and he sunk to your level.

Yes - if you were offended by his text I would definitely complain to the gym. That is NOT what you paid for, and that is not the kind of way he should treat a client.

I agree with GCG, you should just text him and let him know you're not interested in him or his services any more.

That must be the line of the Week in PT weekly. The Billboard outside my gym today read:

" if you keep driving by without stopping, you will only get Fatter not Fitter"

Yeah, I'm sure he's just trying to be 'motivational' in a retarded way.. I wouldn't try to get him fired, but you SHOULD tell him you don't want to be spoken to in that manner, in fact, you'd like not to be contacted by him at all.
Obviously your trainer-trainee relationship didn't click. That tactic of bashing may very well work for some clients, but it certainly wasn't what you needed. Therefore, you need to find someone with whom you DO click.
Just don't take what he said to heart. You know better.

Dude, I really don't think he was bashing or teasing or anything! I mean, you could feasibly get fitter, and you could also feasibly get fatter. Either way you go, it doesn't mean you were either fit nor fat to begin with...

From my point of view, it's not an insult. Just tell him to stop texting you.

yuck! Another reason why I won't hire another personal trainer. Maybe they help some people with their fitness level but I can't see paying someone to help me workout at the gym. It's just not for me

As a personal trainer, let me just say: fire him. Fire him now. And complain. He's an ass and we're taught to have more tact than that. Just hearing about this makes me wince, as it makes my profession look bad.

If someone said that to me, I would just think of it as a different way of asking if you've been working out or not. But, I agree with everyone else, text him and let him know he's fired. I am in sales and I will bug the poo out of someone until they tell me that they're simply not interested. You do the same thing in the club right? So he may just think that you're taking a break for a little while and you'll pick right back up with the sessions eventually.

He just thinks he's being witty (& is failing spectacularly). Don't let it bother you, Jazaine! I'd go ahead and send him an official signoff. Just be very direct - and if you can do it in a detached way, you could throw in a mention like "By the way, that 'fitter or fatter' remark was pretty rude, not to mention unprofessional."
"Before I conceived you, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were here an hour, I would die for you. This is the miracle of life." -- Maureen Hawkins

"I just can't get over how much babies cry. I really had no idea what I was getting into. To tell you the truth, I thought it would be more like getting a cat." -- Anne Lamott

Sounds like he's trying to motivate you like he would one of his bros. Tell him. Sounds like he doesn't have a real good bedside manner. He prolly doesn't know his tactless ways are costing him cash. If you confront him on it and let him know how you feel, you might have a wonderful trainer after that. Who knows, or just find a new one.

    *Applauds*

That's why I made the remark, "Does he say that to fat people?" I'm a health/fitness nut and have had personal trainers and have seriously thought about becoming one myself. I'll have some practice this summer...yay!!! It is extremely unprofessional...He must be a newbie or something.
