Default Wow...this one's bad. (period bleeding)

Yeah..I've complained before about how bad my periods are. Changing a super tampon every hour, and it still leaks. That's normal for me.

But this month...fuck, Im on day 4 and Im STILL changing and soaking every hour. Usually it's only that heavy for the first 2 days. What's worse....( TMI ahead) I just passed a fuckin huge clot!! Like, 1 1/2 inches long, thick, gray, not a normal looking clot. And I'm still having craps, which are usually only for the first day. They aren't terribly bad, but they're constant.

Misscarriage? Doubtful. Didn't have sex when I was ovulating last month, and well...I took a test a few days ago, just cause I have this odd obsession with pregnancy tests.

I did have sex during a fertile time in March, but April's period was normal.

    Maybe a cyst ruptured?
Probably just a bad period. But it sucks. I may not be able to return to work tomorrow as planned if this don't get under control soon.

grrr. And I remember a time when I wished I could get a period. All my friends had them.I wasn't cool until I got my period. Now I wish I could give it back!!

That grayist clot concerns me. When I had my miscarriage, that is what my clotting looked like. I would definitely advise you to go to the doctor and get checked out. Depending on how preggers you were, it may not show up on the urine test (qualitative) and you may have to get a blood test (quantitative). Usually when a cyst ruptures, you are in quite heavy pain...

It could also be fibroids...heavy bleeding with a lot of clots is indicitive of fibroids...however, that grayish clot sounds like miscarriage.

BTW...you don't have to have sex during your most fertile time. Sperm can last inside the female body (during that week window) for 3-5 days. So...yeah, that's what happened when I got preggers with Adrian. LOL

    Go to your doctor.

I had a positive pregnancy test, then had the same thing as your describing for 2 weeks in a row, then I got bleeding 2 weeks later, this time very light, then I had a negative blood test, the doctor and I came to the conclusion it was a miscarriage.... I had a 'gut' feeling of this when I was in the tub and passing several blood clots the size of my palm! I know TMI sorry xxx

I then stopped my period for like 5 months, went on some hormone pills, finally got it back, then stopped taking the pills, I have had 2 'normal' periods and waiting on the 3rd normal period to come! (fingers crossed it will come or I will have to go back on the tablets again - which make me EXTREMELY bitchy and rude

My advice would be go to 2 doctors and get their opinion, if both are saying the same thing, then they are probly right!

Good luck and all the best for a speedy 'normal' period

    xxx

ditto....that's exactly what i was thinking. usually if it's greyish like that it's a miscarriage. my first and 3rd miscarriage that's what it looked like (the 2nd i had a d & c)

you could have easily had a period last month, but not expelled the pregnancy and had a negative pg result this month. that's what it sounds like happened to me.

you should go get checked out. did you by any chance save the clot? a lot of times they'll want to see it and test it to see what happened.

i also had Menorrhagia and dysmennoreah. mine were more than likely caused by my fibroids.

there are many options to treat heavy bleeding. bcp's are the most common, also iuds are another option, however because i had so many fibroids i couldn't have one. i opted for an endometrial ablation since i'm done having kids.

you do need to get to the doc though and make sure it's all gone. you may need to get a d&c. if parts are left for too long, it could lead to uterine infection.

I agree, it sounds like a miscarriage.... except not so painful. Maybe your tollerency is a lot higher then mine....

Well, my cramps are usually soo terrible, I automaticially take 800mg ibubrofin every 6ish hours or so to keep that under control. So that could be why things aren't as painful as they should be? But usually my cramps subside after the first day or 2, and never last this long.
I dunno. That clot freaked me out.
If your having a miscarriage...does the bleeding last longer than a normal period?
Usually, my periods are 6-7 days as it is, but the last 2 days are just light spotting. I'm on day 5 now, and it's still as heavy as ever, when usually, it would be slowing down by now. I should be using regular tampons, but I'm still on Supers.

I am terrified to go to a doctor for this. 2 years ago, I thought I was pregnant. A test at the doctor confirmed it. a week later, I started bleeding. I went to the ER. They said i was not pregnant, and just having a period. They made me feel like i made it up for attention or somehting. They gave me a blood test and an ultrasound. They said i was never pregnant. I am so scared of going to the doctor and hearing the same thing. It's just a period. They made me feel so stupid before. I still don't know if I was pregnant and they missed something, or if the first doctor was wrong, and I was never pregnant to begin with. I had all the symptoms. I didn't have a period, I was gaining weight, I even passed out once.( at a night club, of all places.) But the ER said I was not pregnant. The next month after that, my period was very late, and very abnormal. For months after that, my period was wacky. So who knows?
But I don't want to go through that again.
I'll just see how this one goes. It should start slowing down soon. If it doesn;t, I'll call a doctor.

    yes, you do bleed more...

remember, once the egg implants your lining starts getting more thick, so there's more to shed.

er docs SUCK for pg stuff...i've had my fair share of dealing with them.

go straight to the gyno if you're bleeding doesn't start slowing down in the next 2 days.

make sure you're taking iron, bleeding alot can deplete your reserves..

    good luck ((((hugs))))

Yeah, sounds like a miscarriage to me too. I agree with the iron supplement (make sure you take it with food or it will make you really sick) and go see the doc. Bleeding like that is a serious concern and I can't imagine a grayish clot being anything but an embryo.

And maybe don't go in there saying you think you're having a miscarraige, jsut explain the facts, the bleeding, the cramps and the clot. Let them figure out what it is.

Yes, lots of Iron with food. You've been having some health issues lately, from your other posts, so double up your efforts to take care of yourself.

Actually, if you passed a grayish clot and you are still bleeding like this, you need to go to the doctor; especially if you've been bleeding for a week already. I wouldn't necessarily go to the ER...they have pills you can put inside of you that will help progress the miscarriage (as opposed to doing a D&C). If the pills don't work, then you'll have to get a D&C. By waiting, you are putting yourself at risk for having complications of dead tissue that is not being expelled. Also, bleeding for too long will cause other problems. I agree with taking some iron supplements.

You should also be careful with taking so much Tylenol. If you've been popping those pills for a week, you can make yourself sick. If the cramps are bad enough to make you want to take Tylenol, and they have been for the full week...you need to go to the doc. Also, just a word of caution...during my first miscarriage, I took all the pain meds I could...and I think it hampered with my body's ability to successfully expel the remnants. The second time around, I just sucked it up and breathed through the cramps and my miscarriage was over much faster and without a D&C. It could have had nothing to do with each other and just was going to happen that way anyways...but, you never know.

Go to the doctor. Now. And update us on your condition.

Yeah..I'm still bleeding pretty heavily. Day 5 and stil soaking super tampons. Not as ften as I was...every few hours now, but still using supers and filling them. No more scary clots tho, a few small, normal looking ones...

My bf thinks it was a miscarriage to. He says it explains other things I have been feeling lately, but I dont see how it was possible. The facts don't add up...but I'm the first to admit, anything is possible if your having sex.....

I'm gonna call a doctor tomorrow.

What kind of other things have you been feeling lately?

I'm curious because i started a thread about possibly being pregnant. I decided to wait and see if I missed my period before spending money on a test. I'm expecting mine tomorrow, if I don't get it this next week, time to take a test.

And yeah i'm kinda feeling how you are, the timing of when I had sex wasn't right for anything to really happen, but stranger things have taken place. My period has been out of whack lately so who knows when ovulation occured.

Sounds like what everyone else has been saying for your sitch, a miscarriage. Except I've had some serious clumps before that were pinkish grey one time. Didn't consider the fact that it could have been a miscarriage, but this thread has me wondering.

    also Kaylinn,

It could be an idea to use a pad rather then a tampon, as tampons can cause clotting from personal experience!

After my m/c I was told to wear pads and not tampons, I dont remember why the doctors reson was, but I was glad I listened, I had blood every where! (I was filling a pad every 30 mins - 1 hour) It was painful and annoying!!

Good luck honey and Iam thinking of you!!
