Default Energy slumps! How do you get through?

Iv been to a dietician, Iv had a thorough talking to. Clean eating for me now big style.

But the first 3/4 days are the hardest (especially as today I was out and about and missed my lunchtime meal which has thrown me out completely)

How do you guys deal with energy slumps - I cant eat carbs (as much as I would love to smash down a tuna mayonaise baked potatoe right now!)

So what do you recommend. Iv done the gym, I've just eaten tuna steak, got a litre bottle of evian with me as I write - its makng me feel like death Im so sugarless!

Pomegranate juice. It gives me the same effect as Redbull plus has added benefits such as many antioxidants and it tastes great. Go for a short walk or jog. Do some cruches. Listen to some bangin music.

You need some carbs hun. If your dietitian told you no carbs (unless youre on atkins) then I think they need a thorough talking to.

Also when people detox their body from sugar they will feel tired for a bit and then regular motions of energy will kick back in.

How many calories are you eating a day and how tall are you? If your activity level high sometimes not eating enough calories can bring energy down.

    hiya. You are totally right!

I could not carry it on, I was lying on the floor, puking nothingness, crying,sleepy....the dietician was very very wrong in my opinion.

Iv since eanten a small brown/granary roll and feel on top of the world now!Sugars are back and good carbs. Why oh why and how could anyone not give their body the sources needed to make it feel good.

Iv decided I have an amazingly healthy diet and the stupid diet i got put on was to help remove the fat deposits that just wont budge during normal diet and exercise. iv come to the conclusion that iv had those fatty areas (thighs and hips) for so long i think they have just settled there.

So my option is learn to love those areas (kinda...sorta...little bit getting there)or lipo!!!

lol.- never ever EVER will i starve myself again because someone told me it was right for my body. I'll just listen to my body myself!

I usually eat either something small and sweet, or something with protein, depending on whether or not the slump feels like a hypoglycaemic one.

Your brain needs good carbs! Without them, we don't function as we should, and suffer from fatigue and moodiness. Of course, too much sugar throws the balance off too. Stick with the good carbs--whole grains(not just wheat), fruit, veggies--and lay off the simple carbs--white flour products, refined sugar. Good carbs allow for a slower breakdown, which keeps the blood sugar level. Any dietician who would advocate not eating carbs as part of a healthy eating plan should be horsewhipped.

If you have problems with some grains, just experiment. Or have sweet fruits. I can't have most grains or I get acne and digestion problems, but I can have oats and all sweet fruits, so it works out fine.

Basically, just listen to your body and eat as healthy and unrefined as you can. I don't think there's a real need to eliminate whole groups of foods, unless you have some kind of medical condition/crazy allergy.
