Have you ever worn 7inchers before? I bought my first pair a while back and since then I NEVER wear any of my 6inchers. It just feels "strange" to me now. So, if you're prepared for the change, then change it up.
I never have foot discomfort, so I can't really say if switching from 6in to 7in platforms made a difference in my arches.

no, actually. But i want to, because I think it looks better! I'm concerned if it will be more/less comfortable.

Hmm try the 7in. out. If you dont' like them, you could always sell them off to someone *winks*

they ARE cheaper...
I like the 7inchers. I don't know about anyone else, but I notice a huge difference in comfort. It must be that they do have less arch or something.
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily

I don't know which you should pick, but the difference between the heel height and platform height is the same for both shoes (4").
6" heel has a 2" platform.
7" heel has a 3" platform.
Yeah, I was curious to know about the arch difference, too. I went and did a little investigating. Don't know if it could be made differently so the arch isn't as high or something...:
I think it depends on the manufacturer, I haven't measured but my Tony Shoes 7" heels seem to have a 3" platform whilst my sunset strip 6" have a 2" platform. On the other hand I think my sunset strip 7 1/2" heels have a 4" platform so they have a slightly smaller difference.
Either way I think 7" are more comfortable so if you prefer the look then get them! They usually have a bit wider heel too so they're easier to walk in than 6" heels.

(7inchers have a 3" platform; 6inchers have a 2" platform) This means the arch will be exactly the same. Particularly if you're comparing shoes of the same brand - they will tend to have the same ratio in all their platforms.
Sometimes different brands might have slightly (and I do mean SLIGHTLY) different heel/platform ratio, but they're almost all right around a 4" difference. A difference greater than 4" is what starts to be uncomfortable, because it forces your foot up higher. A difference less than 4" will be more comfortable because it lets your foot sit flatter.
If there's really a difference in comfort between 6" and 7" heels, it's usually in the height of the platform. The platforms do act as a kind of shock absorber between the ball of your foot and the floor - that's partly why our stripper shoes are more comfy than regular shoes. Even though the platforms are hard, it's still better than walking on regular high heels with no platform - they're still somewhat softer than the floor/ground we walk on. So, if yall find the 7" shoes to be more comfortable, it's generally because the platform is higher and basically absorbs more shock.

I like my 7inchers too.
I do feel more comfortable in 7 compared to 6 and I always swore it was the arch difference but now I'm wondering if that's even the case (thanks for ruining my theory B, lol)
Ah, who cares what the reason is, I still feel more comfy in 7, lol!

If you've never worn either pairs before, I'd suggest starting with the lower heels.
I started off with 6" heels upon reading everyone's recommendations on SW but after a few months of getting used to them, I'm ready to move onto the 7"! I'm not a complete newb to heels though since I often wear 4 1/2" heels outside the club. So that explains why it didn't take me too long to move to the higher heels. But in my opinion, the higher the better!

I deal in stripper shoes and stuff, so I see TONS of them. You oughta see the spare room
One of my good friends calls me "stripper USA" LOL!!
I think the 7" probably are more comfy, but I couldn't say for sure because it's been quite a while since I've worn 6" heels (well except for my Karo flower wedges, but they are way different than regular heels). I think the wedgies are by far the most comfortable of all. THAT I have not been able to figure out or develop a theory on. Anyone care to take a stab at that??

i can't dance aggressively in 7 inches. 6 spike heels are the best for me.it's all a matter of personal prefs.
I actually have shoes of both heights that I wear on a regular basis. I really notice a different in comfort.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I can't even begin to tell you how jealous I get of you girls who can wear the 7" heels.
You put a girl who's 6' tall when she's flat footed in a pair of 7" heels, add some giant bewbies and big hair....
Well... It's not a good thing, really. I scare 'em.
But I have heard the same thing from my "little" friends, that the 7" shoes were the most comfortable for some reason.

Yep. I like the 7"s even though they make me tall. For some reason I just can dance better in them. Get a pair that's supporting at first though.

EE, do you wear 6" now? Because if you do, I can guarantee that one extra inch isn't going to make one bit of difference in the world in your "intimidation" factor. I've worked with several 6' chics (barefoot) and they ALL made higher than average money. I think guys like the thought of the climb, maybe![]()
I clicked on this topic then realized, to my dissapointment, we were talking about SHOES. haha..![]()

hahaha!

I agree. I have one pair of clear 6 inchers, and a pair of white 7 inchers. I alternate them throughout the night cause my feet tend to sweat a lot and my shoes get slippery, and also because they feel different and it gives my feet different positions to be in so it doesn't hurt so bad.
But I like wearing the 6 inchers better because I wobble less. I can charge around that stage without worries, and launch into spins without worrying about grip.
Hahaha! And I know you're the shoe queen around these parts as well, that's why I gotta give it to ya!
Hmmm... stability??? I haven't worn wedges before that's a good question (I've never seen them with the ankle straps, do they make em that way?).

I suspect stability might have something to do with why they're more comfy, but not sure why.
Karo will add an ankle strap to any shoe that doesn't come with it. The options are available on my site. Ankle straps cost an additional $3 - that's what Karo charges to add them. I think I posted a pic of my pink flower wedgies with the strap on here before...
Yep here it is!
