    Default Apparently im not as flexible as I thought!!

    Ahaha I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours in the Emergency room

    I've been doing the splits for the last few months... but im silly and don't properly stretch(silly me) and I just kinda 'fall' into them... well umm today it caught up to me lol... I ended up 'lightly' tearing my hamstring... so in other words a nasty sprain. So im on some fun pain killers and anti inflammatorys... yipee!!!

    So girls let this be a damn good lesson... STRETCH before going on stage!!! I now have a fucked up leg and shoulder from not properly stretching.

    I am unable to stretch my leg out properly, I cant really bend or move around too easy... Im a little hobbling hop along ahaha... the manager is calling me Speedy My leg is all swollen and I've been having some fun muscle spams... not fun at all.

    Bright note... the doctor was hot and totally flirting with me mind you I was the only person in the emerg at that time that wasnt drunk or fucked up on some sort of drug so maybe he saw it as a breal

    Poor Cally!

    I've done that to my shoulder before.... Thankfully my legs are insanely flexible and i can do the splits without warming up and its not even a stretch...

    How's the healing goign to affect your work schedule? Can you take time off to let it heal, and gently get it back into shape?

    OHHHHH...If I was closer I would BEAT YOUR ASS!!!! You think your leg hurts now???

    HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU NEED TO BE TOLD???

    ...and yes this is MOM talking now!!

    You should know better, now you are looking at 4-6 weeks before you even try to do a normal show!!! Even if it is only is sprain.


    I can't EXPRESS ENOUGH...if you are performing pole tricks...STRETCH. You only have one body...damnit...take care of it!! Listen to it, and do as it says or you learn the hard way!!

    How good are you going to be dancing if you cant walk or lift you arms?? Think about it!!!

    I did stretch though!!!!!! Just not enough I guess

    I didnt hurt my shoulder this time... I meant thats a past injury from not stretching right...

    I cant afford to not work.... so I dunno what im doing...

    But still...the answer to your question "so I dunno what im doing"....Ease up!

    It's all good to do a great show, but at what cost? Stop worrying about today, and start being concerned with tommorrow and the day after that!

    When you hurt yourself enough times...its like the car that gets wrecked....either 1000 little hits or 1 big one. Either way the car is wrecked!!!

    Start concerning yourself more with your body rather than what people think of your show! You have spent the last how long proving yourself to every club you have worked in..they all like you, and want you back.....

    Stop abusing yourself by proving yourself daily. Start looking at the bigger picture.

    This is slightly off topic but how long did it take you to perform the splits? When did you achieve it and how flexible were you previously?

    I know it is directed at Cally yet I want to give my account since I can do the side and front splits as well (on the floor, working on doing it against the pole... just not quite there yet.. close tho'!).

    The key for me was Pilates. No matter how "old" you are I will swear to you this is what helped me and can, naturally, help you as well. I just did it full on ... the basic 20 min workout (I was using the Winsor Pilates videos) three times a week interspersed with the advanced workout once or twice a week.

    Stick with a basic pilates workout, three times a week and you will be able to do the splits no problem.

    After that it is just a case of stretching to keep the muscles 'loose' as such.




    Also, Cally, I agree with Alena .... THINK OF THE BIGGER PICTURE!!! I understand you don't want to slack off and therefore 'wreck' your reputation however you are human ..........and your body can only take so much! I don't want to hear you at 30 with all sorts of 'health concerns' because you wore it out now.

    I think I said that a long time ago yet no one listened to me. I know what I speak about as I'm suffering now due to how I didn't take care of my body in a way back when I first started -- weak ankles.

    Just another quick question about the splits (sorry to hijack the thread, but old threads from my search didn't address this), is there a right or wrong way to do them?

    I've been practicing for a month now - with a good 30 minute stretch beforehand - and it 'seems' that I can do the side splits with my right leg in front and the left one at the back. I use the word 'seem' very loosely because it looks like I've done it perfectly from all angles of the mirror but when I look down to my legs, I can still see that my left knee is slightly bent.

    Is there something I can do to make my legs split an angle closer to 90˚ or is this as far as it goes? Thanks!

    He has an incredible section on the splits...3 different ones!

    GCG is right, anyone regardless of age (or in my case what the doc says) can do the splits.

    I dislocated both hips, broke my pelvis and chipped my coccyx. I was told I would never be able to do the splits without dislocating again.

    4 months of following his routine...and now at 37 I am capable of doing the splits!!

    Just daily stretching!!!

    Holy poo Cally!!! I'm sorry your body broke!! Stretching totally rules in the preservation of self department. Take it easy babe!! I hope you're feeling better soon and able to get back out there... How long did the docs say you'd have to be out of work for?

    I worked last night... only as a lap dancer though... I had to make money... and umm im off work now till June cuz im runnin away to NYC for a much needed vacation!!
