I've taken 2 before... but don't take anymore then that.. and don't take them again for awhile... also it should be spread out.. one 3mg pill then take the second about an hour or two after that...
You might have to experiment with the amount you take....sometimes too much melatonin actually has the reverse effect: it can cause insomnia in some. 6 mg won't "hurt" you, so to speak (it's almost impossible to OD on the stuff), but everyone is different. Cally is right about spreading out the dose. Also, before or when you take it, turn down the lights and refrain from watching TV or using the computer (sources of bright/flickering lights). Read a book or meditate, anything relaxing that you can do in a semi-dark atmosphere.

The above-listed site has some info about melatonin, including dosages, etc. I take it almost nightly, in conjunction with other sleep aids (lucky me, a chronic insomniac). I find that it works much better if I take it a half an hour or so before I go to bed, and during that time I read with the lights low. I usually take 3mg (3x 1mg pills).
"Seeing the landscape at this superficial level only captures its boring uniformity, not allowing you to immerse yourself in the spirit of the place; for that you must stop at least several days."

I take 2 almost every night and I'm fine; just need to make sure you have enough time to have a full night's sleep.

Are you lying down after you take it, or are you up and about, waiting to feel sleepy? You have to go to bed and try to go to sleep. Melatonin is an enhancement, not a substitute. It also only lasts for about an hour or two. It helps you fall asleep, it doesn't help you stay asleep.
