    Default SSRI's and memory

I am on Effexor XR and my memory is really shitty now. This morning I forgot that I talked to my best friend on the phone and then I forgot her phone number completely. Anyone else experience these symptoms with SSRI's?

how long have you been on it for? have you recently increased your dose? seritonin (im sure thats spelled wrong...) is key in making your memory work correctly, hence menopause and memory loss. this could be a temporary side effect until your body gets used to the drug. this can take up to 6 weeks but usually happens in about 2-3 (less in my experience, about a week) the other possibility is that you have been stressed and forgetful but are attributing it to the drug due to the coincidence. (im not saying you arent really experiencing memory loss im just throwing the idea out there.)

I have been on Paxil for awhile. Best SSRI there is (in my opinion) for treating the indicated problem Down side is I can go for hours without cuming. Great exercise and with the memory issue I forget when we started so it is all good.

Seriously I have not had a memory issue but give it a month or so as it is good stuff. The sexual side effect is unfortunately too real for me

I find that it is less about memory for me and more about concentration. My ability to concentrate is impaired and therefore when people tell me things I am usually only half listening and hence I "forget".

    I take luvox.

Shit, I only half listen a lot now. I hope I'm not affected more in that way.

I forget things all the time and I don't take any SSRIs. I've been told stress can make you forgetful.

i've been on effexor for a few months now, and just upped my dose a few days ago - i find that for the first few days on a higher dose, i'm a little bit spacey, but i've not had any real memory issues with it...and the minor side effects are well worth it for me...

I've been on Effexor for 4 years now, the doc upped my dose in April of last year.
