    Default Choosing your schedule

So i just started at a club where we can choose our own schedules, and i'm having a hard time gauging how many days I should work a week in order to not burn out, and which days are the best for consistent money. I worked 1 day shift and 3 night shifts my first week and was fine with working 4 days a week, but I was just wondering.. for those of you who can choose your own schedules:

    a. How many days you work a week?
    b. Which days do you work?
    c. Do you work on your period? (because i think i'm probably NOT going to because i have horrible luck and my hormones are insane)
    d. Do you think the amount you work is not enough, too much or just right?

haha... sorry for all the newbie-ish questions. just looking for input

    a. How many days you work a week?

I have to schedule for two nights a week min. so I schedule to do Monday and Tuesday nights each week. I have the option to do more nights and usually will opt to do Thursday and Saturday nights (one or the other or both or neither) each week.

I have found that for me, thesedays, I work best doing two nights in a row with one night off. If I find myself working more than two nights in a row I can only do so if my shifts are 5 hours or less in duration. The longer I work in a night, the less nights I do overall.

I only work nights as there are no 'day shifts' or even if there were I wouldn't do them as I'm so so used to working nights.

    b. Which days do you work?

    See answer to A

    c. Do you work on your period? (because i think i'm probably NOT going to because i have horrible luck and my hormones are insane)

Not applicable as I do not ever have my period or any bleeding thanks to using Depo as my preferred method of birth control.

    d. Do you think the amount you work is not enough, too much or just right?

If I have done well in my two rostered/schedules nights, then yes I have done enough work. If not I will work more nights. I listen to myself and my body etc and judge how little and much I work each week on that as well as if I have any monetary committments (saving up to move out, pay off credit card, just to save etc).

I can't work more than 3 days a week, maybe 4 if I really need the money, but I try to avoid those predicaments. I have a really hard time with a schedule b/c I wake up and think, hmm, I really don't feel like working today! Usually I'll do two weekdays and one weekend night. I only work at the end of my period, not at the beginning. The amount I work is just right FOR ME.

Just like LatinaRose, I can only work 3 days a week at the most. I try to work 2 weekday nights and one weekend night usually Saturday as well. I want to start doing Weds, Thurs, and Sats strictly...but I, too, get lazy and don't freel like going into work...which I am about to change here SHORTLY I really need money...AND SET SHIFTS so I can build a routine and my clientele! It's weird...sometimes I've worked on the 1st day of my period because it was so light...but the last time my 1st day was pretty heavy. I'm just gonna stick to not working the first 3 days and be okay to dance for the rest of the time since my periods only last about 5 days. Sometime I wish we had schedules so I would get my lazy ass to work. This all should be added to my summer goal list...hehe.

well, i took a break from dancing but when i was working i worked 5 days a week, 6 or 7 if i felt like it. all nights. and yes i danced on my period, although i had a little bit of a problem and said i was never going to dance on my period again, so i would work 2 weeks straight and then take a week off for my period and just a break, and then work 5 days or so and do it again. if that makes sense..

I start dancing again this weekend and i plan on working 4-5 days a week.

I work 6 days a week.... Mon - Sat from noon till 2am... but I don't work all of those hours as I have shifts inside of shifts(if that makes sense?).

When I used to freelance on schedule and started a new club I worked Weds - Sun. I found Mon/Tues to not be that great for me. It just goes with what your comfortable doing. When I worked Fri/Sat I would work the mid afternoon shift, I found I didnt do well with the young kids that were in on Fri and Sat nights.

I work 7 days a week, and I work between 2-6 hours a day. Occasionally I take days off, but this works well for me. I make decent money, and I don't get burned out as fast as I do on long shifts.

I aim for 3 days a week... give or take one depending on how I'm feeling. I work Monday, Thursday, Friday. Generally, I work on my period (although Depo has taken care of that problem for me) but there have certainly been exceptions. I think the amount I work is just right. If it weren't enough, I'd simply work more.

Also relevant is how long the shifts are.

I work 2 nights per week but they are very long shifts and there is no choice in that.

I work either wed or thur 8pm til 3 or 4am depending on when we stay open til.

    Saturday night I work 8pm til 5 or 6am.

That is plenty for me due to the length of the shifts.

I do not get my period because I take the pill continually without a break.
If I did get my period I would not work because I cannot use tampons.

I am scheduled 3 days a week. I work Mon, Wed, Fri, and if those days are bad or I need extra cash, I will pick up Saturday. I can't stand the damn bachelor parties around this time of year, as it is especially bad on saturdays, so I like to leave that day open. If my period happens to fall on my scheduled day, then I chalk it up and go to work.

Mon and Wed I work from 7PM-2:30AM, and Friday 8PM-4AM

I am going with the majority here....

3 night a week (can't handle more than that physically or mentally)

Usually wed, thurs and sat. I usually come out of the dressing room around 8:30 and leave between 1:30 and 2:30 on weekdays. On Sat I get out between 2:30-3:30.

I usually don't get a period so that is N/A.

I think I work just enough. Occasionally I take a 2 day week if I need it and don't have to feel guilty.

I want to schedule 3-4 days a week, with a day apart in between. Doing days right after each other just shreds me physically for the next week entirely.

I wish I could get my manager to see that! He schedules me 4-5 days in a row, one of them being a split doubleshift! Don't I have a life?! And then acts like i'm being a brat for reminding him that for WEEKS i've told him i NEED the day in between, unless he wants to pay for the cab to the hospital for pain management!

To make things worse---I'm always on time... None of hte other dancers are. So he ALWAYS schedules me for the opening shifts-because HEY if the other dancer isn't there-at least hte manager will see SOMEONE on stage! So I make NO money, and when I try to fix the FIRST scheduling error(too many days in a row), he cancels the ONE MONEYMAKING NIGHT SHIFT i have!!!

ARGH!!!!!! I'm really fed up with the guy at the moment. I cant audition at other clubs because auditions are during the day-yet for three days straight I've barely made more than minimum wage! In addition to putting up wtih the other dancers CONSISTANTLY being late, meaning I'm on stage for hours on end with no one else there! and STILL being pressured to come in, DAILY!

And I injured my shoulder two weeks ago, and I've had a hard time getting them to leave me alone to let it heal-so its MOSTLY better, but something by my chest is pulled, hurts me to breathe ALL THE TIME, and is fine for the FIRST day of working, but the next day i go in for a shift and its all inflamed again, because they WONT GIVE ME MY RECOVERY TIME!

    urck.

    Sorry for the rant.

Aside from my last couple months of laziness, I ususally work three nights a week. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 8-2. That is plenty for me. Any more than that and I would go nuts from being so physically and emotionally drained. It's nice to have two days off twice in the same week too..

I like to work at least 4 shifts a week, Thu-Sun nights. The only day I refuse to work is Monday. I'll work on my period if I'm on schedule, I used to have hang ups about it but I'm over that now. I feel lazy if I only work 4 shifts a week, I don't mind a 6 shift work week at all. I go into workaholic mode every other week or so to make up for my "lazy week".

I used to do a schedule, but it overwhelms and dissapoints me... In season I'll work 4 nights minimum, usually5, b/c I'm o a moneymaking roll

but sumertime, I'll do 3-4 days a week.... monday fri sat, maybe a tuesday or wednesday..... depending on how I feel.

But if I don't go in, I don't really care too much..... I never get mad at myself of w/ev....

The first year I worked 4 days every week and I picked the nights that had the most customers at my club because I was new and didn't know what I was doing hustle-wise. Now I work 2-3 nights depending on how my body feels and what kind of $ I made and need to make.

I would suggest that you try every night of the week over the course of a month. Try to work every night of the week twice before you decide that day sucks. Also, I would work 4 days starting out to capitalize on your newbie excitement about the job and that customers like new girls. Once you get a feel for your club, what kind of customers like you, and how you hustle you will know when you should work.

Don't you work at dp, hearts? I started there... and I was SO glad when I left for a larger club because if you need to get out of a scheduled shift @ dp, it can be awful just because there are so few girls that a lot of times i missed out on awesome concerts and other opportnities just because I worried that if I missed out on a reliable night then he'd take me off the schedule or something. Now it's great, if I need to miss a shift, I call in, but there are so many girls that will show up anyway!

    a, 3-5 a week.
    b. Sunday night, Tuesday night, Wed. night, Thur night, Fri. day/evening. (choose 3-5, w/ Wed. night and fri. evening being the least common)
    c. never matters much either way.
    d. I know exactly how much I need to work every month to make my bills at every point in time, so I'm always working enough... it's working more than enough (to really save up dough) that I need to recognize.*

*d. The other day I figured out all of my bills and how much it is per month. If I can clear a bare minimum at every shift, I should be able to pay my bills after 9 shifts @ a certain minimum savings (the rest I get to blow on eating out and all that fun crap), with 2 shifts a month devoted to tax money and 3-4 devoted to savings. So that's 13-18 shifts a month... I'll bet having this financial plan will make next month a lot less stressful.

Seriously? Fuck that noise, you are getting the Rockstar treatment from your club (the agency, not a good-rockstar sort of thing). Though you're a minor, right?

Take a look at things like craigslist. If there are other jobs that pay similarly to how much you are clearing at your club (say, retail at $13/hour or something like that) with similar skill-sets... then maybe that will help you figure out how undervalued you are. Especially if they don't care about your shoulder being fucked up. Fuck them, because that kind of injury can last your LIFETIME. Just honestly. A lifetime of a sore shoulder just because your damn club can't book correctly.

I can't handle more than three nights a week. Our shifts are eight hours so I just can't! But three days a week really pays off because I work really hard when I am there.

My schedual is Tuesday nights which are really great for me..at my club Tuesday is lingere night and I think alot of older guys know this and like it. Which is perfect for me because that is my clientel! Plus I love lingere.

    Weds...are usually pretty good

and a Friday which can be hit or miss but are usually great.

Since I dance topless working on my period is no big deal.

When I danced I worked Monday - Saturday, 7-2 every week. Then of course there were the many times I would come in on a Sunday because they were short girls which would give me no day off. Working that much actually had it's benefits, because if I decided at the last min. I was going to take a Wednesday or Friday off to do whatever my manager never had a problem with it and there were no fines because I rarely took extra time off and was there so much. I worked when I was on my period. And the days and times I worked are probably excessive for most but it was perfect for me.

    a. 3 - 5, depending on my outside life and how I feel.

    b. Any, really, but I always work Saturday nights unless there's a very good reason not to.

    c. I work on my period. I think it would be crazy to take a week off from work every month.. that's a lot of missed money. And it's really not so bad, I just cut the string off a regular/thin tampon (not super, they pop out!), shove it way up there, and I'm good to go.

    d. Right now, I haven't worked since Friday night, so I feel like it's not enough.. but I know that if I walk into my regular club tonight, I'd walk out with under $100.. so I'll wait until my good shift at my other club tomorrow, feeling fresh and excited. I think I generally work the right amount of shifts to keep from getting burnt out.. if the money is great, I can work 5, 6, 7 days. Otherwise, 2-4 is fine. My cost of living is pretty low.
