    Default Accident related pain...

Not until today, almost two weeks later, did shit start to appear. All of a sudden I have MASSIVE bruises, my back hurts all down the sides of my spine, my neck hurts... everything... my ass looks like I went to a dungeon for the weekend (mmm, Yekhefah...)

... what do I do?! Do I go to a chiropractor? I think they're quacks for long-term pain, personally. Acupuncturist? I think the opposite, only good for long-term pain... do I go to the doctor? A physical therapist?

I left with only a concussion from the hospital.. they didn't even know I had back pain because I didn't!

Should I see someone? Who? What's a good thing to do until I can convince a doctor that I need to see him SOON?

    Hurts so bad.. it burns.

Damn, I'm so sorry you're in such acute pain...

First thing I'd do would be to go to a regular physician (unless you're trying to save on costs... but something tells me with your financial/bureaucratic systems know-how you're on top of it) to simply assess the damage and discuss further treatment options if they are necessary. Might just be a week of vic's & advil as some of the pain goes away, could be a specialist is in order.

I know many people who trust chiro's & acupuncturists.. never tried the latter myself, but the former worked WONDERS for a terrible back/leg problem. I saw her for one long session, it was really intense, then I thought she was a totaly quack because the pain was still there 2 days later.... day 3.... totally gone. Hasn't come back, either. Back home in Rochester my entire family relied for years upon a chiro whom we SWORE was a white witch... a naturopath who could cure ANYTHING simply by putting her hands on you. And my family is as skeptical as you can get.... the lady was amazing. so I give 9.9/10 to chiros. Good luck!

Even if I wasn't, I got my free medical for Aus-land! I prefer to go to paid doctors though because they seem to be better quality - but I'm ALL kinds of insured for that! I even insured myself for free chiro/acupuncture AND physical therapy in case of accident (GO ME!) so I'm covered even for extras... so if I can and should go to them, I definitely will! Michael's calling his chiro (he goes monthly) tomorrow for me (thanks to you!!)...

I'll go to a GP, I suppose... mmm.. just seems weird.... "What's wrong?" "Well you see this 2 foot bruise on my ass? yeah... that's wrong."

    How wierd.

If you need documentation for the insurance, go to the doctor. I think accupuncture might be a good fit for your pain tho - it sounds like you're having multiple things happen at once that are probably all related to one "system," which is what accupuncture is best at.

Insurance? hahaha, I crashed in a wooded area by myself and medical is free in Australia - who'd I get money from? I rolled my own damn ass off the road!

Alright, I've never done acupuncture but the pain in my back BURNS, so I'll do it! Why not?

Oh hey! I found a picture of my car....

Definitely go to the doc before you see any accu/chiro types. You could have a hairline fracture or some other serious internal damage. I had similar pain and bruising when I was 15 (hit by a pickup truck while riding my bike). Turned out to be fine, but there was a possibility I'd cracked my hip. That can cause serious lifelong problems so you want to get it checked out.

Oh, and I wouldn't mark you up like that. I've gotten quite good at reducing a client to tears while not leaving any marks but a little redness.

Can't help too much with the chiropractor stuff, but it's not too late for arnica and topically applyed Rescue Remedy, to help the massive bruising go down.

PLEASE get it checked out by a general doctor-you want to make sure there's no long term damage that would affect work, and make sure its not serious.

Hopefully they'll do xrays on your back, just to make sure. (thats what they did when I was in my accident)

yeah, sometimes this stuff doesnt show up until later-it DOES suck though...

Go see my chiropractors, the are bloody fucking wonderful! Currumbin Beach Chiropractic - you can use it s another excuse to go to The Sanctuary again (-:

Seriously though, my best friend recomended them to me, and they are truely awsome. Ive never had such good care - and Ive been to alot of different chiropractors in my time, most of whome were good. They really take the time to check out your whole body at Currumbin - they adjust the whole body if need be, not just the spine.

I dont have the number on me but theyre in the phonebook.

I recommend a chiropractor as well. I've been seeing one for accident-related pain as well, and it's very helpful. I visited today due to a recent pain flare-up. One thing he stressed is that pain can be unpredictable, so it's not uncommon for you to feel symptoms a couple of weeks after the accident. However, before the chiro, you should probably see your regular doc, or even one at the hospital (they might want to do x-rays). You can then get advise about how to proceed...and then you can research your options (chiro, acu, PT, etc.). There are some "quacks" out there, but also a LOT of good practitioners. I hope you feel better....give yourself permission to take care of yourself, even if you have the instinct/desire to keep plowing ahead.

I got a '94 SHINY Silver Daewoo. It looks green or blue depending on the light, really cool paint job!

... which of course is all I cared about this time.

    I don't know why, either.
