Default to work or not to work?

Girlls, I want to ask your opinion. I have my citizenship interview in a couple of weeks. I've waited for it for a loooong time, and I am so hoping I'll become a US citizen and will be able to travel to see my family more often.

Here is my dilemma: TABC has been at my club twice in the past week, and vice came in once and gave some girls a warning. I am paranoid of getting a ticket although I am a "cleaner" dancer compared to some other girls. So I am debating on whether I should take a couple of weeks off and just rest, recharge and prepare for the interview mentally, or should I continue going to work and be extremely careful?

I've never been arrested for anything, my record is very clean and I want to keep it this way. I don't know what the chances of vice coming in in the next couple of weeks are, maybe they'll come, maybe they won't. They don't visit my club too often, it's a classier establishment compared to some others, but when they do come in once, it's not a good sign. A follow up is quite possible.

The fact that they gave some girls just warnings last week can be considered good, or bad. Good if you believe they consider my club classier and didn't see anything horrible going on, bad if they came to check it out and that time didn't give their "quata" of tickets to the girls. I don't know what to do. A friend of mine says that even if I do get arrested, it won't show on my record in a couple of weeks, but I hate the idea of getting arrested at all right before my interview, and believe me, it's quite possible to get a ticket even if you were trying to do a very clean dance. I won't be broke if I don't work for a couple of weeks, I have an emergency reserve, but on the other hand if they don't come in and I won't work, I'll be losing money when they money is going downhill already. What do youn think I should do?

Maybe you can work in the daytime. I don't think it's a popular time for vice to do their busts. Otherwise, you should definitely saty on the safe side. Becoming a citizen is so much more important than $2000 or so.

There is no saying what shift the vice may come in and what clubs in the city they are planning to visit. I don't know, maybe I am just paranoid, but from what I've seen, they become more active during election time and once they visit a club, they usually come back again sometime soon. They also come to my club more often before a holiday when it's slower, maybe because there are fewer conventioneers and they don't want to scare business people, and when more people are drinking.

Yes, I have emergency reserve. The question is whether I should avoid risking and stay away, or should I still go to work and just be very careful. I already decided not to go in tonight. I am trying to make the right decision. What would you girls do if you were in a situation like this one?

I would wait 2 weeks. There is no amount of money worth risking your citizenship. This seems like a great reason to have a reserve. Relax, clear your mind for your interview, and stay worry free.

^^^ double ditto. A pending misdemeanor 'sex crime' charge would torpedo your Citizenship application in a heartbeat.

Sounds like you've made the right choice. You should plan two weeks of recharging and getting ready for an awesome new chapter in your life!

Wait the two weeks. I had a friend who was waiting to get her citizenship and her dance card just expired. Vice came in and she had to very quickly grab her bag, change and sneak out. She was very panicked and upset, crying uncontrollably over what she almost lost. To this day, I still don't know how she managed to sneak out and not get ticketed. I would hate to see you in that situation.

[derailment] Not to derail, but I just got this image of a stripper in full on stripper gear with a dance card (like from back in the day when people did the whole ballroom dancing thing) hanging by her wrist going table to table asking if she could possibly pencil the guys in for the dance after next.... her hair though was done up like in the 1800's... weird but very funny image. [/derailment]

I'm glad you chose to take the time off!!
