So when do we vote for prom king and queen? Jeezus.

Reading some of this really makes me cringe. I don't give a fuck 'who' is popular or who is friends with who.

I'm not going to kiss someone's ass because I think it will make others like me. I'll be nice to them IF I LIKE THEM. And the inverse of that is true, if someone is offensive or annoying, I call them on it-I don't give a shit who they're friends with.

Seriously. This is so fucking high school and adolecent. I went through that phase in my life a LONG time ago and AM SO OVER IT.

If I read a thread it's because it's interesting to me or I feel I have something to contribute. Not to play kissy kissy poo with whoever is the 'girl du jour' to obtain some sort of favor.

    *End rant*

I agree... I think some of use are just trying to identify a problem and figure out what is causing it and how to maybe solve it... I dont think that identifying people as being popular, or more well known members is making this high school, we are pointing out the things we are observing about our group here. I think we're all trying to work toward a cohesive group. I dont think anyone wants there to be bitchyness or for people to feel unwelcomed or intimidated or anything like that! but yeah that's just my two cents.

I for one feel better about the air of SW and its members after this thread. It's nice to know where everyone is coming from and let them know how I feel in an openly non hostile thread sometimes. Kind of like taking the temperature of a relationship, sometimes taking the temperature of a community can be effective.

Nothing wrong with having this stuff in the open...

Yeah, this IS a bit of an insider community, but I think that has a lot to do with teh work. We lie lie lie to protect ourselves, and don't want people knowing what we DO... So someone new comes in here, and its very very difficult to trust them the same way you trust someone who you met. No telling when it might be a twelve year old boy trolling, or a psycho regular, or whatnot(I was on a different forum, a support group, where a person pretended to have a mental disorder in order to follow another members posts-I don't know if she was his girlfriend, sister, whatever... But still! Scary!)

And yeah, the bandwagon thing happens EVERYWHERE.... I have yet to be on an internet forum where there AREN'T members who inspire that kind of loyalty from the community. It is beautiful, particularly with how hard we all tend to be on ourselves, and on each other. It just might be nice if we complimented MORE than the same few people.

I can see the whole "its just a message board" point... but I can also see why people get upset about it. It seems like this is one of the few places we can b e more or less honest. Not like those of us who live double lives because our friends/parents wouldn't like this job, and not like our stripper persona's that have nothing to do with who WE really are. So in that sense its NOT just a message board-it IS a deep breathe of freedom.

    *off soapbox*

anyone want to participate in a compliment thread for all?

Oh well, I'll start one anyways... got some time before work...

Thanks! I saw this thread in a modeling community, because we're all so used to being harsh with appearances... and i thought it was the sweetest and best thing! And with it being the person above, its harder for people to be left out, etc. (and its a good way of learning a bit about people, checking through posts, looking at pictures, etc. I think its a nice icebreaker!) But still...

I'm just gonna be happy that people are responding, and go to work with a BIIIIIG BIIIG smile!

*does the happy dance* gotta go see if anyone else has posted on it yet!

Do not feel bad for starting this thread! I've been thinking the politics of SW have been very high school for awhile, but getting this all out in the open is one of the least high school-ish threads we've had in awhile. I think it's for the better good of the site. It doesn't mean we're taking this site too seriously, but a lot of us are on here everyday and have been for awhile. Therefore, we don't want it to turn into a shit-starting, venom-spewing place where we are no longer happy to come here.

agreed, LR... Talking about an issue, and confronting it is what seperates us FROM the high school threads. High school you smile and go along, and resent it. Adulthood, you talk it out, figure out how to fix it, and learn that you aren't alone.

I dont know... I found this thread really interesting anyways...

The one thing I like about SW is that, I can be totally mad at someone in one thread, but forget about it and offer helpful advice in another.

Case in point; the dreaded childfree thread. Alexxa and I butted heads in there but I did not hesitate to offer her some hints in her hypoglycemia thread and she accepted my tips gracefully.

It's healthy to get this out in the open but, at the same time, we need to remember that some of us spend a lot of time with each other here. Naturally, we're gonna butt heads sometimes. We're not clones of each other and our opinions will certainly differ.

But, like a family usually does (and I consider SW a "family" of sorts), you forget about it and on to the next thing.

At the end of the day, even with hurt feelings and the like, the majority of us are really there for each other, no matter what's been said. And I love that about SW.

I think the biggest thing is to not take this board or what people say on it personally. I was a member here back in 2002 right after it first started. Left the EDF board to come here just like the rest did. I had a different name then and I will not disclose what it was (cause then too many people would know who I am). Two people who have been here from the start, who are still randomly here now know me IRL and who I was on here before. I stopped comming here for a few years, not because of anyone here but because of stuff that was going on in my own life. Comming back, there were some familiar faces and lots of new ones. During the time I've been back I've gotten a general idea of peoples personalitys that they share here. I know who people are referring to as the "clique" or whatever. I don't see it as a clique, just a group of people who have known each other personally or longer is all. I also can see how that can be seen as a deterant or off-putting to those who are newer. Someone said something about the "pack" mentality. Oh that does exist here, however, there isnt just one pack, theres a few different ones. Personally I don't care one way or the other. Yeah, theres been some who have been a bitch at times, and there are times where it seems everyone gangs up. I don't take part in those threads and I never will. I contribute when I have something to contribute and other than that I dont have much to say. And yes, there are times when I contribute where what I say or others say is completely looked over by others. But thats where not taking it personal comes in. I say something if I have something to say, if people read it and it helps, good, if not, oh well. Their loss not mine. I've never been someone who needed anyones approval or validation and I certaintly don't need it here. I read, I post and contribute now and then, and I dont have anything to prove to anyone on here as to who I am as a person or if I'm really female or really married. Two people (one of whom moderated) know I am what I represent on here but I have been attacked for it once by a member on here too. Something about having mulitple sex partners and tightness of pussy, so she comes at me with the "but I thought you were married", and I'm like I am, but we were swingers for years too. I understand the troll factor and asking questions to see if someone is who they say they are but she totally thought she was calling me out when there was nothing to call me out for. I didnt get in to it with her and it didnt become a huge issue cause I set her straight and it was left at that. But the bottom line is, there are hundreds of us on here, all with different personalitys and different outlooks. This a great resource for sharing and learning many things. But at the end of the day, I don't care who's friends with whom or if they are friends with me or not cause it's NOT personal, cause nobody on here really knows me anyway (minus the two who shall remain nameless). We all have moods, we all can be bitchy (we are females after all), and when you see it on here, dont respond to it and just let it go and move on to something else. Three post later the person being bitchy will be laughing and happy anyway. Don't let the moods of others effect you.

I feel the exact same way. I don't even REMEMBER fighting with people in one thread sometimes and just go on being nice. People have thought I was being sarcastic because I was suddenly being nice in another thread but that wasn't true.

However, the same doesn't go for that CF thread... I'm terrified if I even so much as post next to her she'll bite my head off. :/

Sooooo, I'm just kind of slinking in here, a thought popped into my head as I read the first part of this thread.... It seems to me, every year, this time of year, we all get a little hostile. In the club, out of the club, online, everywhere. It's a tense time of year, and we all stress out. I look at the number of "Where's the money?" "I'm so broke" "I can't do this sh*t" threads going on...

I was even thinking about it at work the last night I worked as I watched two girls who are normally great friends bite eachothers heads off over an eye liner. WTF? We're tense. It shows.

I can see how girls would wnat to clear the air though. For me this site has helped so much. It's helped me deal with a lot of things that I normally would have ignored. This site has become important to me. So for me, that means keeping it enjoyable is important. But that's to me. It may not be how you feel. Oh well.

Surely these feelings and emotions will pass, and we'll have more threads about penis size and orgasms and who bought that new purse that just came out.

Meh. The overall "mood" here goes through phases. It's been "bitchy" before. Right now I'd say alot of people are stressed over slow business and that contributes. I never did understand why anyone would feel too intimidated or whatever to post something the have to say on an internet forum. I mean, it's not like anyone is going to come and beat you up or anything. Of all places, this is where we should feel most free to speak our minds (aside from obvious stuff that might be read by people we work with and bite us on the ass ). Goddess knows I feel perfectly free to say whatever the hell I think. LOL

That is true, however people STILL unintentionally considered me "offensive" even though I was not trying to. (but not you though, CF) So I'm still getting a bit misunderstood(it's not necessarily intentional...I guess I cannot blame the people for perceptions?)

Fuck being nicey-nice...I've found that a lot of people(real world, Myspace, etc) like me a lot better when I am blunt, a tad bit prickish, and firm. So from now on, I'm not going to feel the need to explain myself(I tend to do that way too much, evidenced by my super-long posts)...even Esco thinks it is dumb to do that. I'm just going to say how it is at face value...perhaps it is my trying to sugar-coat things, that leads to having my message lost in translation, thus resulting in people mistakenly thinking that I am offending them when I didn't mean it.
