    Default Shoe problem.. ouch! help..

    So I bought these shoes:

(same style except rhinestones are around the edge not down the heel)

and I am in love with them, but not in love with the fact that the inside toe strap suffocates my big toe, cuts in and now.. TWELVE hours after I took them off last night... both of my toes feel numb and weird. I tried stretching them out before I wore them last night, but it didn't really help any.

Is it bad to keep dancing in them with this toe-numbness-weirdness going on?

Should I just give up on these shoes and buy wides/custom made? I really don't feel like spending any more $ on shoes, but if the numbness is a serious problem then I probably should.. right??

They probably just need to stretch a little.
You can use a hair dryer to heat them a little, which will soften the leather faster.
If it were winter, I'd tell you to leave them near a heat vent over night to soften them.

Yup...blow dry them till they're soft then put your foot in them till they cool. They'll mold to your feet.

I have those ones with the rhinestones, and even the blowdryer didn't help. They just cut in kinda funny, and my foot's wide right there. As much as it sucks, get different ones. I kept trying to wear mine forever, and it's just not worth it. I'm getting ready to get some customs from Bridgette. Also if you keep wearing shoes too tight across that part of your foot, it can lead to bunions. I've developed them, and if they get any worse I'll need surgery. Better off with the cost of a new pair of shoes than surgery and the time off.

If they don't stretch enough after trying to heat them, etc., don't wear them! I had toe numbyness for a month after wearing ill-advised, wouldn't stretch enough shoes for a while. It IS bad not to feel your toes-painful feet, sure, but 12 hours of numb is not good. I was told I had nerve pinchage.

I stick to the straight across strap kind now-criss cross or peep toes just cut off my circulation. And patent doesn't always stretch!

Also, you can probably sell your shoes to another girl and at least not take a total loss.

I had this problem with a pair of crisscross peep toe patent shoes. It takes a while to stretch em out. I tried a number of things one of them that did work was putting baggies of water in the toe of the shoe and then frezzing in your frezzer over night, when the water freezes it expands. Then i tried the warming em up with a blow dryer, i dont think this one works too well with patent. I also used to walk around in them with a thick pair of socks on. They are still a little tight on bare feet. I found wearing stockings with them was the only way i could stand them for longer than 2 hours. If i were to buy the same style again i would definatly buy a size larger.

I stretched them overnight by stuffing the toe part with socks, and when I wore them Friday night they weren't as bad, and after the shift my toes weren't as numb, so I'm guessing they just needed some stretching out.

next time I buy shoes (which will be soon) I'm definitely buying wides though

Yeah, that kind of numbness is a bad thing. As much as we use and abuse our feet for work, we need to take care of them so we don't cause serious long-term damage. I've also heard bunions are caused by shoes too tight.

You could either try some Ellies (go to a store and try some on before buying online), or go the custom-made route. If you're going to try custom-made shoes, I'd advise measuring your feet and adjusting for whether your new shoes would have the clear vinyl upper or patent leather. Patent doesn't stretch nearly as much as the clear vinyl - I normally wear wides but in open-toe stripper shoes I need medium width if the upper is clear vinyl. So basically, if you're getting shoes with patent uppers, go for your correct width; if you're getting clear vinyl uppers, go for 1 step less than your correct width to allow for stretch.
