Default I can feel a hard mass in my abdomen and Im so bloated I look pregnant

so, I wanted to tell you ladies about what I'm going through and see if anyone has experienced the same thing and what remedies I could try to treat it before seeing a physician. I wrote (and deleted) this whole huge paragraph about why I'm reluctant to go to a doctor right now, but trust me I will be going soon.

    1) My stomach is pretty distended, more than its ever been before. It looks better (but still swollen) when I first wake up and gets worse throughout the day.

    2) I havent been experiencing any constipation, diarrhea, or gas.

    3) When I lay on my back and kneed my abdomen its all completely hard around my belly button and just below and above it.

    4) Today I was feeling the mass while standing and it moved slightly and went back into place.

    5) I can feel my pulse in the mass when when I push firmly on it but it isnt painful to touch it.

    6) I've had this for quite a few months and gained around 20 pounds with it even though I didnt really change my diet and was getting exercise.

Ive been looking online for possible causes. Worst case it could be something that I'd definitely need treated by a doctor - but maybe its simply a fecal impaction? I was thinking I could try the lemonade colon cleanse for a week, try an enema, and increase my fiber and see if that helps. I just want to make 100% sure its not something thats common or treatable at home before I spend money on a doctor that will tell me its something common that I could have treated myself for at home. also, when I was on a low carbohydrate diet where I was eating only protein, non-fat dairy, and vegetables a while back I noticed a reduction in my bulging abdomen. my sister suggested I may have a gluten intolerance - but would it cause these other symptoms?

Have any of you experienced something like this?

Are you pregnant? Weight gain of 20lbs...extended belly...etc
OR maybe you get gassy from foods?
OR you need to take a huge poo.

I say get some pregnancy tests like 3 and if all negative get an enema. The liquid kind and stay home for a day to release. If not better still get to the doc. You could have an allergy to something and not know it thus causing your belly to poof.

Do the lemonade-cleanse for three days and drink malva verticellata (3 ballerinas) cleansing tea.. IF the pregnancy tests are all negative

With fecal impaction, you do not poop at all. If you are having bowel movements, you do not have a fecal impaction. I would be concerned about an ovarian mass. Make an appointment with your doctor and while you are waiting...check those pregnancy tests and try whatever bowel evacuation method you prefer...colon cleanse, enema, whatever. If it goes away, fine, cancel your appointment. If not, don't miss your appointment.

That sounds ultra scary. If I were you I'd go to the doctor ASAP. I don't think that self medication is the best option in this case. Really, get yourself checked out.

    I'm sure im not pregnant.
This started when I was still in a long-distance relationship and not even having sex, then when I moved here I had multiple pregnancy tests done before I went on birth control.

I'd bet money on it being an ovarian mass.

Go to the doctor and request a sonogram scan. And a CA-125 blood test- it could be a fast-growing ovarian mass, which could be bad news.

Let us know what happens! I'm PM-ing you with some more info.

it sounds like a large cyst, you should definitely get to the doctor and explain your symptoms. Theres been many magazine articles etc. on people who have had huge cysts removed and their stories sound similair to what you are describing. You don't want it to grow out of control.

get an ultrasound. actually, get two-- abdominal and vaginal. you could have a cyst, or a fibroid, or some other kind of mass. an ultrasound is a good diagnostic to start paring the possibilities down with.

hard mass in abdomen, and distention that looks like pregnancy.....Those are the most common signs of ovarian masses.....watch out, sometimes they're malignant!!! Not to panic you or anything, but PLEASE get checked out ASAP!!! I had a good friend die of ovarian cancer at 23 years old.....her symptoms looked just like this!!! It's too important not to get checked.....whatever your reason for not seeing a doc.....fuck it.....just do it anyway! the CA-125 blood test is a good tool, but you should have an ultrasound......and if a biopsy is suggested, do it! It sucks, it won't be fun, it could save your life!!! Take Care!

This sounds like ovarian cysts, or masses. I had this problem a few years ago. I tried the enema route as well, and it didn't change anything.

Here is my advice: go to a SPECIALIST ob/gyn!! Trust me on this: if you are not insured, tell the person on the phone and try to work out a deal. Seriously, I went to clinics, emergency rooms, and urgent care docs for months. They didn't know WTF they were doing and kept mis-diagnosing. I spent way more money on those appointments, plus on the battery of antibiotics they kept prescribing me.

Make sure to ask for an INTERNAL ULTRASOUND. It looks like a big dildo and they put it inside of you. That way they can see what's going on inside the peritoneal wall. Save yourself a lot of time and pain.

My mom experienced the same kind of symptoms for a year and she didn't go to the doctor. She started to have strong shooting pains so she finally made an appointment and turns out she has fibroids. They confirmed it with a vaginal ultrasound. Fibroids are not usually painful but hers turned into pedunculated fibroids which can be excruciating. She is going to need a hysterectomy in the future but is in no rush.
It all started out about a year ago with a mass in her abdomen and the area around her belly button hardening. Fibroids are almost never life threatening unless they're malignant which is pretty uncommon. Even when pedunculated they're just really painful.
I would definitely make an appointment with an OBGYN to have things checked out.

When my friend was 16, she had an ovarian cyst that grew bigger than a grapefruit. They wound up having to remove her entire ovary. She's 28 now and still having wacky hormonal issues every now and then due to the missing ovary. See a doctor now before it gets worse!

It sounds like fibroids is a possibilty. I have lived with them for years. If that is what it is, they are rarely malignant. I was diagnosed at 23 and have lived with them for 13 years. I had them removed when I was 28. ( I have a three inch scar that looks like a mini cacearan (sp?)

I have danced nude since then and just wore a cute chain belt that covered the scar. Nobody has ever said anything.

They came back about three years ago, but not as big or as severe as the first time. I have gone through chemically induced menopause twice to releive them. (Three months of depro-lupron shots). They help to shrink them and keep them minimal, but it doesn't get rid of them completely.

The only time they really disappear is when a woman becomes menapausal.

    Thanks to all who replied.
I have an appointment for June 6th at planned parenthood because I dont have insurance at the moment. My boyfriend is trying to add me to his because his company offers benefits to the domestic partners of their employees but its a pain and once it goes through it will take a while for it to go into effect and I would like to go ASAP.

if they cant tell me whats wrong or give me the blood tests and ultrasounds i need then at least they can give me a referral to a specialist.
