    Default pulled muscles

Now, I warm up and stretch every night before taking the stage, but regardless, last night, I somehow threw out my lower back. I am in serious agnoy and have taken so much ibuprofen and rubbed so much icy hot all over my body. I'm at a loss of what else to do. anyone have any suggestions?

Prescription drugs? A soak in a warm bath with epsom salt? Put real ice on it (for 20 minutes or so, you don't want frostbite)?

Maybe take some tylenol too (sometimes I take both tylenol and advil when serious pain strikes), although not too much. If it doesn't get better soon, a doc might be able to script you something stronger. I hope you feel better...rest up

For some temporary pain relief, a medicated oinment such as Deep Heat should help.

I just took a bath and my boyfriend offered me his prescription pain meds, but I'm still in pain, although it is considerably less with the drugs. Maisumi, Icy Hot is similar to Deep heat and I've been rubbing that all over my lower back since last night.

Make a permanent spot for yourself on the couch and just let the muscles rest, says I. Try to move as little as possible.

Oh hun, I used to cheerlead and this was SO common. Best thing I can reccomend is icing it FIRST, then a heating pad when you're watching TV. And some IBproufen. And RELAX. Nice warm(not overly hot) bath beforehand.

Whoops, sorry! I didn't know what Icy Hot so I didn't realise.

Have you tried heat plaster patches? I get the odd case of debilitating whiplash from time to time and these things are a godsend. The effect is similar to DeepHeat/IcyHot but it's much more effective because the patch keeps in the heat (as well as the pain-relieving Chinese herbs that are in there) so that they're more effeciently absorbed by the skin.

I personally prefer the brand Salonplas over the Tiger Balm ones. You can buy these from any Asian grocer. Feel better soon, burnedrose!
