Default Your Favorite Foundations and Powders?

This has probably been covered a thousand times, but things change, and I'm just curious. What are your favorite foundations and powders? I'm not really too picky on my other makeup items....to me, the base is the most important thing. Plus, I'm constantly experimenting with foundations/powders. What foundations and powders do you currently use or love the most? Right now I use MAC Studio Fix SPF 15 in NC20 and sheer powder in NC25. Oh...and I use a strobe cream, too. I'm sure a lot of you gals are already MAC addicts. I was a cheap-ass before, and just recently started using their products.

I'm going the cheap route right now, because I can't seem to find a good matte foundation that will stay fresh after working and sweating all night.

    I love loreal's cashmere perfect.

I am in canada so i dont know if you have this product or not, but i found the perfect foundation. I went in looking for something else and then i talked to the beautician and she reccomended this foundation called cover fx. It comes in 2 forms one is thicker and used to cover up more severe imperfections, she claims she covered a tatto on her shoulder with it to go to a wedding. But then she gave me a sample of the water based more of a liquid foundation. It works awesome it is really natural looking for the amount of coverage it gives and it doesn't feel like you have anything on your face. And it is water proof so you could go swimming with it on and it is still there. I highly recommend it. But i do suggest getting it matched to your skin by the girl at the counter first. They really can be helpful sometimes. Oh it is like 37 dollars and lasts a long time because you don't need alot of it.

I actually find cheap powder from those Asian stores in Dandenong to be the best. I use supermarket foundation.

I use stila or prescriptives foundation. They are both really nice. I use oil free to avoid breakouts. I dont use powder, I know my foundation doesn't last as long but I prefer a bit of a dewy look to my face rather than completely matt.

I like MAC StudioFix (both the powder & the liquid)

I also like Bare Escentuals because it's very light on the skin...Only problem is, the cool shades are very "grey-toned" and they can look ashy on the skin.

I don't use foundation... I just use a little concealer where I need it and then go over with powder (right now i'm using Gabriel... it's talc-free, oil-free, natural, not tested on animals, etc) and bronzer (right now i'm using clinique because I LOST my makeup bag with my beloved urban decay baked bronzer .... oh and about 100 dollars or so worth of makeup.. blah.

I hear MAC is good but I've never tried it.... is it tested on animals? It didn't say on the website.

^^^ Is Clinique not tested on animals? I just told my best friend that if it doesnt say its not on the label then it is, lol.
    She'll be thrilled anyway.

I dont have a specific brand, I use non-animal tested powders, usually Australis as its the only one I can find in my skin tone locally )-: I dont use foundation.

According to this list Mac isnt animal tested. I was always unsure about that too - and Napoleon Perdis. Im glad to see them both on the list! And hurray that means I have options now :-D

I use MAC Studio Fix powder in C4 normally, but I've lost my tan and haven't been wearing make up lately. It provides enough coverage that I don't need foundation.

I have MAC Studio Fix, and Studio Tech in NC45. I also have blotting powder in medium. I rarely use them.

Majority of the time for work I used Maybelline Oil-Free foundation (got it for $1 at the dollar store) and it lasts all night! It's in the Caramel color..

Powder, I am currently using Black Radiance. This too lasts all night. I NEVER even have to re-apply.

I love my benefit You Rebel tinted moisturizer. It looks super dark but works on just about EVERY skin tone. I'm incredibly pale... freckles and red-ish blonde hair naturally that I dye dark. It's the only foundation I'll use.

I use MAC powder .... no clue which one it is. ha.

I used to use MAC studio fix foundation but it turned cakey after time. I now use Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation and I absolutely adore it. I apply with a foundation brush and then set with a translucent powder.

Then I use MAC's blott powder for touch ups.

I'm a simple gal; I don't need expensive stuff for it to work for me.

    I use:

Revlon ColorStay Blemish Concealer (clears blemishes)
Almay Clear Complexion Makeup Foundation (clears blemishes)
Maybelline New York PureStay Powder Foundation with SPF 15 (over the top)

Very light and airy for me.

I am using Jane Iredale pressed mineral base and I really like it. I wanted a mineral makeup, but had a hard time finding a shade that matched my skintone with other brands without having to mix two shades. I'm not sure if I'll repurchase cause it's really expensive, but it has spf, and conceals pretty well, plus I love that it's not bad for my skin, as I often fall asleep with my makeup on... so I just might.

I'm a pretty simple gal when it comes to my foundation too. I use Max Factor Pan Stick pretty much as a concealer, right around the eyes and across the nose. I finish it off with L'Oreal Bare Natural powdered mineral foundation all over.

I'm not a fan of MAC's foundations. While they were okay and did the job, they aren't so good that I would choose it for life. Studio Fix liquid can make you break out and tends to dry kinda dark and orange. I like Studio Fix powder way better and it's convenient too. Select Tint is okay. Loose Blot powder is the shit. I'm gonna try Giorgio Armani foundation next b/c it is supposed to be amazing and very luminous looking - but expensive at $50 in the States, who knows how much in Canada? I may try something else, like Make Up For Ever, if it is too expensive. Would love to hear reviews on MUFE if anyone has any. I've tried the Lorac foundation and it was pretty good, but not amazing.

Why is it so hard to find an amazing foundation that I am totally sold on?

i almost never wear foundation - i've yet to find one that's pale enough for my skin AND sheer enough not to cover my freckles too much...i stick to a little bit of concealer if i REALLY need it, a moisturizer with SPF and a really light dusting of baby powder if i'm super shiny

I'm a pretty simple girl, I use Aveeno oil free sunblock for the face then I use Cover Girl Clean Makeup foundation the combo of the lotion and the foundation seems to make it last longer and keeps my face from drying out. Then I use No7 loose powder and it makes everything soft and smooth. It lasts for hours and through sweating.

Alright, so this is a foundation secret I rarely tell. On the quest to find the perfect foundation, I tried everything! From high (Chanel) to low end (actually was a big fan of Maybelline Mouse for a long time), but nothing lasted a night in the club. I get pretty sweaty and hot!

Well, (Latina this is for you!) I tried the Makeup Forever "Face and body foundation" and it is the greatest thing since sliced bread! It goes on with just the right amount of coverage (pretty light) but you can layer it in areas that need it more. But the best part is ----- it's completely water/sweat proof! And it hasn't made me break out yet and I'm already on my second bottle. Totally the number one foundation for a hot and sweaty stripper! Try it now!

For concealor, I use Prescriptives (pretty great for the undereye), and Marcelle loose powder (cheap and works well).

I have uber sensitive skin that goes from really red (almost rosacea looking) and dry to extremely acne prone and oily the next. Its due to several medications I take though. I have to keep several different foundations on hand and sometimes use a little of each on different parts of my face to get the perfect face. (Obsessive sounding aren't I?) I also find that not all brands carry makeup light enough for my pasty skin color. I can't wear Smashbox or a few others. Those that I do wear I usually get the lightest shade in (or second to lightest depending on the yellow/pink undertones).

My favorites are Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I usually start out with just this and add some thicker foundation or her Secret Camoflage where I really need it. When I need thicker coverage I'll use Bobbi Brown's foundation stick or Dior Sculpt. Laura/Bobbi tend to be my basics for foundation though.

The best powder I have ever used has been Laura Mercier in translucent. I've heard really good things about Temptu or Kett powders. They are usually used to set makeup for HD shoots so I hear they do an amazing job while being basically invisible. As soon as my Laura runs out I'll buy some and report on how it works. I really am wanting to try Face Atelier's Ultra Foundation too. I'm such a product junkie
