OK so this past weekend I took my niece and nephew (8 and 6) to see Shrek 3.
It was cute, I guess. They seemed to like it.
Now, it's been forever since I've seen a kids movie (I think the last one I saw was Toy Story, which was fantastic).
When did they start putting in adult jokes to kids movies? There was a pot-smoking character (albeit brief), some mild sexual innuendo, etc.
Most/all of this went over their heads, but am I wrong/prudish to think that this is just not necessary in a kids movie? It wasn't like it made the movie funnier for me...in fact, it made me a little uncomfortable, and no one laughed at the "jokes."
Or is it just me and I've turned in to my parents?

Shit, she was hot!!!
People blame it on the media and movies and video games... which I think is stupid. Parents are just looking for an out. Anyway thats a whole different topic that I don't want to be responsible for starting.
