Who thinks this board is really clicky?
I do.

clicky?
cliquey?

So do I! Already talked about this (the first to mention it!) in the "Whats in the water" thread recently.
I dont read every thread. The threads that seem like they are going to get on my nerves... I just dont open.
Just an observation.... carry on.

People form cliques, it's human nature.

To OP: Are you posting a poll??? Looking for percentages of yes, no's, and maybe???
or are you actually looking for some POSITIve resolutions to the cliquiness of the board? because simply asking a negative question without suggesting any possible recourse, especially with a few current threads TRYING to address this issue ("post something nice," "something in water," etc...) doesn't really do anyone any good, other than stir things up more. sorry, just my $.02
So, can wewith the insinuating negative posts before more people get
? Thanks.
Like I said, just an observation.
I have just been noticing lately that theres been a lot of ego stroking going on, or maybe Im just noticing it more.
The threads that you speak of, I havent even opened. Dont have a clue what they are about. I have no idea (or had until now) that people were talking about this at all. Thats why I said.. "Didnt do a search".
Lets not light our tiki torches just yet. If people are bringing this thing up on here(which I dont know, like I said) then maybe its not just me.
Im not looking for positive, negative or any sort of response. Im not suggesting on taking a poll, Im simply making a personal observation.
And on a personal note, there have been 4 people reply to this post. Its not hard to remember a name... is ----TO THE OP---- really necessary?

^^^ umm, I agreed with you. most definitely. I just said that I thought it'd be helpful if you posted some possible positive suggestions along with this "observation," that's all.
yes, it has been both cliquey and catty lately. but we have all said this already.

I was being facetious...
EEK sorry- i simply didn't press the "quote" button... geez louise, it was not MeANT to be personal.... i have read MaNY threads where OP is just a casual reference point... it doesn't mean I have forgotten who has posted... oh lordy let's not turn THiS into a fight thread, plEEEEase! (for lawwwwwd's sake i agreed with you!!!!)

I don't even know if I wanna get involved in this post.
I might just sit back and observe, anyone have any popcorn?
Possible positive suggestions?
How about people post what they really think. When someone disagrees the whole kit-n-caboodle doesnt have to come and reiterate the first opinion. Im sure we are all big girls that can express how we feel on certain subjects. We dont need our 'girls' to have our back all the time.
I find that rather annoying. I know everyone needs their ego's stroked a little... but I say rather than doing it on this message board... get it done at work and make a few extra bucks.
Again... just my opinion

in regards to the ego stroking- there is a difference between that and reassurance that someone is doing ok, has done no wrong in their situation, or positive characteristics in regards to the topic at hand.
in my opinion, those are not bothersome in the slightest, rather encouragment, which is always a nice thing, and i'm sure is meant with that intention. However, completely random comments that have no purpose are distracting at the least, and fucking annoying at worst.

There is no fight. And if it turned into a fight thread.. I would log off my computer and not turn it back on for a few days. I dont really have time or the concern to argue about this.
Back on subject... every 'troll' that comes on this board get the "We are Strippers, holier than thou" thrown at them. I cant remember that last board that came over here, but remember what the big deal was.... and EVERYONE oh my god EVERYONE freaked out. Thats the shit Im talking about. I like to come and read after a hard night, after a hard day, or just to get away from my real life drama for a minute. But, I find myself getting irritated that everyone has to fight for the same cause... which seems to be nothing but bullshit.
Again, not fighting. Just making conversation.

although in general I would tend to agree with you here... you must admit that to many this is MoRE than a "message board..." hence the relationships are closer, and there is more emotional pull than a random USB connection... many have danced together, met up, chatted for a LONG time here, and have come to rely on SW as a haven. The relationships here, for many whom you might term "cliquey," have been built over a long time, like any other friendship. Of course, this is merely an observation.... coming from someone who still feels like mostly an outsider. ehhe oh well.
ummm, i guess i usually come across more like I intend to than tonight... for some reason everything i say is being taken extremely literally... urgufnrufnref blargh. didn't... mean..... to...... imply.... blah. ok enough here then, never mind.

yes, thread-jack comments are included in that statement. and while i understand that conversation has a natural flow and gets away from the original topic, comments such as "but you're so smart/beautiful/wonderful/blah blah blah" in a thread about politics or news is just AGGRAVATING. not that the person isn't any of those things, just that that particular thread may not be an appropriate place to place such a comment. not necessarily thread-jacking per say, as sometimes it is ever so slightly related- but we all KNOW that we are the smartest, most beautiful, wonderful, etc women alive! so what bearing it has on how we feel about global warming or the war in Iraq is nil.

Ok the people from that board u were talking about were being insulting fucks - the type of pricks we have to deal with at work and damn straight I am not gonna put up with that here and I will jump down their throats. They were very appropriately banned anyway.
You asked us to say what we really think:
Alright fuck it then I don't have any popcorn anyway so
YES I agree this board is cliquey. If u r with the "in" crowd even if u start a thread that's pretty much about nothing you will get like 50 + responses whereas someone less well known/liked might start a really good thread and get very little responses. They same goes for individual opinions when expressed might get pretty much overlooked.
My enjoyment of SW has been deteroriating of late, due to both the arguments and also the "guess you had to be there" type in jokes/threads.
EDIT: I still effin love my SW friends. I just wanna be cool too hehe.

this is also why "SW-wide" threads like "assumptions we make" end up being about people with god/goddess status only. I think one needs 2000 posts to get a "mention."
Does it make sense because people simply don't know people with only 78 posts? sure.
Do people end up feeling left out? You bet. and it reaffirms the cliquiness of the board, in/out crowds, etc.
I'm with jaizaine... i just wanna be cool!![]()
I'm curious, who is the "in" crowd?
I agree.

I know who's considered, but I'm not mentioning it because I don't want to incite a flame riot.

you've been here since '04 and you honestly don't have a sense of it? i'd say the people who start threads with other SW'rs names in them, simply calling them out to play... or who get 50 responses to a thread devoted entirely to the most possibly mundane aspect of their life... or who have online "relationships" that they refer to all the time. Now, is this a bad thing??? No, not at all. Many of these people, like I've said, have met each other, spent YEarS on the board together, chat regularly, etc... if anything, it would be odd if these playful relationships DIDN't develop.... the board would be pretty impersonal without some of the "in-crowd" friendships that have developed here. Plus, it makes the newbies have something to look forward to by sticking around here and being recognized.
... you weren't REAlly expecting a list of names, right...
