    Default Lower Fat Chocolate

    Ok healthy ladies!
As some here may know, I am now sober. But I get cravings...bad. They say to eat some chocolate whilst craving. I tend to like lighter milk chocolate over the dark. What are some milk chocolates that don't have a humongoid amount of fat and calories in them?

Should I try the stuff for diabetics made with the fake sugar? Is it any good? Suggestions?

I found a few options online but would love to hear your feedback. Not a big fan of choco pudding....unless its like mousse or souffle, yum!

Dip fruit in the chocolate. The fiber in the fruit will fill you up faster, so you eat less chocolate, but it still feels like a decadent treat. And if you use sweet fruit like strawberries, you can probably enjoy a much darker high-cocoa chocolate than normal, and that's better for you.

Stay away from that Hershey shit. It's all vegetable oil and very little cocoa.

do you like 3 muskateers? big on chocolate, not on fat. i started getting those instead of snickers and stuff like that, close to the same calories but wayyyy less fat. i usually just have half of one at a time. also fudgesicles are good for a chocolate itch...the regular ones are low in fat and then the no sugar added ones are even lower...

congrats on getting sober! i've been on again, off again working on that myself lately. are you doing AA or what?

NOOOOO!! Don't do it unless you are a big fan of having your ass glued to the toilet seat for an hour.

SF chocolate has sugar alcohols. Great for diabetics, bad for asses. It has a laxative effect with a large percentage of people.

My suggestion is to take care of the number one priority...your sobriety. And have a piece of REAL chocolate when you want it. Get the miniatures and savor a piece or two each day.

This won't make or break your diet and you won't feel so deprived.

    BTW, kudos on your progress.

I recommend the Newman's Own Organic Chocolate Bars (different varieties, health food stores carry them.) Or Toblerone.

Making your own hot cocoa with pure, good quality stuff and lower fat ingredients is excellent and can fill the chocolatey urges. Hey, drinking chocolate used to be the norm!

I'm a big fan of having the good quality stuff in moderation rather than cheaper stuff or diet stuff. It's more satisfying, so I wind up eating less.

Sometimes I get a really great bar of chocolate and just have a square a day, keeping the rest in the freezer to avoid downing the whole thing-I'd have to thaw it first.

i usually keep chocolate chips around for the mad chocolate cravings - they're in a cupboard i don't usually go into, so i don't end up snacking on them just because i can, and since they're little it's easier to control how much i eat

i've also recently discovered tofutti brand dairy free fudgesicles - fat free, only 30 calories each, and i love them...

When I want chocolate, I either get a small chocolate (like an individual chocolate or two from a box, or a small chocolate frog) or I eat an Atkins chocolate bar, which is quite low in calories (under 150) and also contains protein. The caramel nut ones are rather nice. I also get low fat chocolate mousse from the Supermarket and eat individual light ice creams, which taste good and are light on calories. There are some nice brands of light hot chocolate out there, too. Experiment til you find something you like.

When I have a chocolate craving I'll grab myself just a couple of Hershey's kisses as opposed to eatting a whole candy bar. I usually give into my cravings with just small amounts of the substance I am craving as opposed to eatting and entire serving. I also like those 100 calorie packs of cookies you can get at the grocery store. I get the fudge-striped cookies, they are excellent and take care of the problem.

Kisses are a great idea when you HAVE to have chocolate but you don't want to wreck your diet. You can make them last a long time by sucking on them and stuff.

Here's the problem.......I'm the addictive, obssessive type. I've been eating something sweet everyday. Today, I've had 3 Lindt truffles. If I have little pieces of candy, I'll just eat the entire bag! No........!!!!

The other day I felt like sweet candy while watching a movie. I sliced two bananas into chunks, coated them with melted dark chocolate, and put them in the freezer. By the time we sat down to the movie, we had a great little treat to snack and savor, and it can't have been THAT caloric because it was mostly just banana. It was awesome.

I have a York Peppermint Patty if I have a bad chocolate craving. It's either 140 or 160 cals for the whole thing. To indulge, I'll have a box of Junior Mints (220 cal). I do know that the fat content is very low for both. However, if you're not a fan of mint, then you won't like it.

Determination is key too. You have to say to yourself would I rather have that temporary feeling of pleasure chocolate or whatever snack will give me or do I want that hot body I dream of?

    Fruit + Chocolate = Yummy!

Definitely do that if at all possible. Pineapple is awesome like that, I bet it's good how Yek was saying (popping it in the freezer). Doing this with fruit really helps with my choc cravings, while limiting the actual amount of chocolate itself.

    Good luck Kat!
