Has anyone ever tried coloring their hair naturally with Henna?
Here are a few sites FYI:
I really want to try it to get a deep, dark, almost blue-black color in my 27 inches of hair.
Any takers?

I use clear henna & it will make your hair dull-glossy and wiry (a lot of body, maybe more than you wanted...)
I'd recommend permanent blue-black dye (like Clairol) I used to use that as a teen & it worked great.

You need to use henna+indigo to get blue black, but it can be done.

Me no likey the henna... after repeated uses, it tends to leave a very dull appearance to the hair and unless you want red, it's results are pretty unpredictable. It also sticks around in the hair shaft like a mofo, making future professional color applications more difficult. Let's not forget the smell.
Since you just want your color to be darker and richer, just use a demi-permanent haircolor. It doesn't enter the hairs' cuticle so it won't damage- plus it's chock full of conditioners so it will leave the hair shiny. It gradually fades so you'll need to apply color every 4-6 weeks... but with an average processing time of 20 minutes, it's not that big of a deal.
When going darker- it's nessacary to go with a permanent haircolor only when you need to cover gray. If you don't need the coverage, skip the damage, longer processing time, and chemical-y smell by using demi permanent.
My hairdresser says henna is the WORST for hair..just get prof color![]()
I love this stuff. I've had the Redken Color Gloss done twice - once a rich brown and once a clear one for shine. Both times my hair looked beautiful, thick, and glossy, like rich bitch hair. Not that expensive either, like $60. I should really get a clear one again for summer.

I've used henna for the last 2 years, but only red. I love it, but use chemical reds in between hennas because I noticed that while my henna colour is incredibly glowing and vibrant in the sun, under indoor lights it looks pretty dark and dull, though my hair is smooth and strong and I really like the texture it gives. Oh and I'm not thrilled with my head smelling like grass when it's wet, but at least that goes away after a while.

i've used henna for three years to get the red look and i've never had a problem with it. yet i don't have any chemical relaxers or dyes on my hair, which are horrific when mixed with henna. henna has given my hair a thicker feel and more shine. it's not for everybody, though.

I work in a Redken salon so I am biased, but Redken Shades EQ is the best, most widely used professional demi-permanent haircolor. It's awesome! Fabulous shade range and rich, dependable, predictable color. If you decide to visit a salon, I definately suggest finding a Redken salon or at least one that carries Shades EQ.
^^yep that's the one! amazing!
thanks girls~!! I am now looking into Sebastian Colour Shines in Black Orchid...
