    Default Drinking enough water

I always try and drink 8 glasses of water per day, and I'm amazed at how much better I feel when I do. I rarely drink soda, only a few times a year, but I am constantly amazed at how much soda people I know drink. I read somewhere you need almost twice as much water as soda you drank to rehydrate yourself (soda is dehydrating). It used to always amaze me when I was a waitress and people would come in and say, I'm thirsty, can I have a coke? If your thirsty, water is what you need! I'm also always hearing you can lost weight from cutting back on soda. What's everyone elses thoughts on water/soda?

I only drink soda as a mixer...and even then not all the time. Otherwise I drink water or unsweetened iced tea when i am thirsty.

I only drink soda at work when I order my Captain Morgan's and 7...other than that I never drink the stuff. I may switch to pineapple juice instead of 7. I drink only water all day long, probably more than 8 glasses a day. If I want caffeine, I'll treat myself to some sweet iced tea once or twice a week.

I feel so much better with a higher water intake. I bought one of those 3L jugs that I fill up and make myself drink before the day ends.

If I want something fizzy I'll have tonic water, maybe with some juice. Once in a great while I have a diet soda, just for the taste.

I actually hate water, but I make myself drink it. I'm a huge soda and juice fan.

Me too Paige. Have you ever tried those flavored Propel waters? Gatorade makes them, and I generally hate the taste of Gatorade and also hate the taste of water, but these are the exception to the rule. I drink 2 of those waterbottles that come in Grape flavor.

I drink diet pepsi exclusively, or diet coke at work. I hate water. I know it's unhealthy but I'm a caffiene addict and don't have the time to quit. (Time because I go through withdraw like I don't want to get out of bed, or do anything, so I can't go to work or visit family.)

I used to drink lots of water though before I got hooked on diet sodas and my skin was clearer. Hmm. motivation?

I hate HATE water, and I love my diet pepsi.

But the more water you drink..the less soda you drink. So I just kind of crowd out the soda.

I still have a few each day, btu way way less than when all I had was soda and woudl drink a 24 pack a day!

Yeah I like those... I'm drinkin one now! I also like mint water, but I can only find those in fancy schmancy stores, unless I add mint extract to water but that has the alcohol taste yanno?

If my local grocery had non-alcohol flavoring or concentrated juices, I'd add those a lot.

what about getting fresh mint and muddling it with ice, then adding to water? Kind of like making a mojito...but just adding water instead of rum!

I get the Propel and drink like 2 a day, especially when I work (driving around in the heat, delivering, etc, makes you thirsty!). I love my local grocery store, they have sales on Propel, 10 for $10, which is good savings seeing as they're $1.39 at CVS, and $1.59 at the gas station.

I dunno...I think thoes flavored water is just taking something healthy and turning it into something unhealthy.
I mean, they have added sugar, HFCS, and calories.
Drinking it is not much better than havign a soda, IMO.
ITs a little better......but I think it counteracts the healthiness of havign real H2O

If you really hate water, flavor it yourself at home. You can add just abotu anything in water to flavor it. Lemon, Cucumbers, hell...maybe even grapes I guess... Just drop some in.

I'm not too worried about it, it's better than drinking no water and drinking soda.

^^ I am always curious is that just regular coke or do people loose weight if they cut out diet sodas too? Cuz diet sodas have no calories but I heard they mess up your body's natural ability to count calories or something. Not sure.

Diet sodas also have aspartame. Lots of talk on how dangerous that stuff is...

Isn't it something about how the fake sugar in diet soda confuses yoru body and it cant properly metabolize real sugar or something?

    Yuck! I hate water..I know I know that's bad but it's true..Hell I drink about a 2 liter of Sprite everyday..*ahhh refreshing*

The only time I can talk myself into drinking water is if I've had a really hard workout, or it's flavored water.

Soda (as in SODA not a coke, not a lemonade, just carbonated water) with a slice of lime at work on the floor. Out back during a break tea or hot chocolate. At home alot of green tea, orange/fruit juice, water.

You do realise that alot of the food you eat has a water content to it so that counts as well....

Water is so important, and soda cannot replace it. In fact, all that caffeine and sugar and corn syrupy nastiness only serve to stimulate your adrenal glands, which will make you more thirsty and upset your body's natural balance. Aspartame (which is found in diet sodas) is not good for you either. Not exactly sure why but I know it should be avoided.

I drink green or herbal teas, water with a lemon slice in it or sometimes juice (cranberry is my favorite). Mostly I have to drink a lot of water because my kidneys are working a lot harder to filter out toxins from 2 people. The lemon makes it much easier to drink because I hate smelling the plain inside of the cup or glass for some reason.

Green tea ROCKS! I drink it hot at night(nothing more relaxing then curling up in bed with a good book and a cup of steaming tea...waiting for the kettle to whistle as I type this!)
During the day I have iced green tea(in addition to water). I have an iced tea maker and i always have a pitcher of fresh brewed green tea in the fridge. The flavored ones(esp. lemon and peach) are my favs.

I've been carrying around a gallon from Trader Joe's to make sure I get mostly through it during the day. Especially during the summer, it is so important to keep hydrated and sodas just can't cut it.

HFCS is bad for you.......1.5 gallons of water a day for me. There is no substitute.

I used to never drink soda but my bf got me hooked on those coke zeros! Sooo good! But, I have 0-2 of those a day. I try to have some hot tea at night and I also buy these big bottles of iced tea from Trader Joes so I can have that if I need some caffene. I drink a lot of water when I wake up in the morning. Otherwise, I can't say I'd drink it. My alcoholic drink is vodka and club soda. I like to pretend that they cancel each other out.

It's impossible for me to quench real thirst with soda. It's just a temporary fix.

I try to drink at least a half a gallon of water a day, but I shoot (and usually do) to drink a gallon of water each day. Other than that, I have green tea in the morning (2 tea bags), and I'll have a soda 2-3 times a week.
