    Default Another bv question

I'm sick with a sore throat and fever, and just had to take plan b last night (woke up this morning sick), so maybe it's from that, I dunno, but I noticed a slightly fishy odor down there. Not real strong, but Deffinitely embarassing enough to keep me away from my boyfriend 'till it's gone.

Well, I lost my health insurance for the summer while I'm transfering schools, and I just friggin lost it last week. Before I lost it, my doc gave me a prescription for z-pack because I always get strep over the summer (this is not strep that I have now). I have it now at home just in case... I'm thinking of taking it for the bv. I know they prescribe flagyl, but will the z-pack work? Or is that a different thing entirely? I also bout jarro-dopholis active probiotic cultures today, I'm hoping that helps. Anyway... z-pack, will it work for bv?

Sorry, Z-pack is Zithromax/azithromycin. This won't work for bv. Save it for your Strep. throat.

so, I have been reading up on homeopathic info for the last several hours. Apparently goldenseal, echinacea, barberry, and Pau'darco are good as well as acidopholis, with goldenseal being one of the best (caution if you are allergic to ragweed, and do not use for more than 1 week), and you can put a few cups of pure applecider vinegar into bath water and soak for 20 min. It's 2 am, I've got a fever and sore throat, but I am headed to the store. Later.

Get an appointment at your local health dept. They can check you for bv and dispense or prescribe meds for you (if needed) and it will all be very very very cheap.

If you want another non-medical remedy, I "re-suggest" the hydrogen peroxide washes:

It takes a few weeks to completely work, but if you take antibiotics you will probably get a yeast infection also. There are a lot of side effects with Flagyl. Sex will also make BV worse.
