    Default canine incontinence and diapers

umm, so i think this is the best place to put this...

anyway, my dog is having pretty severe kidney problems and it's resulting in her urinating all over when she falls asleep. it's not her fault at all, she just is not capable of holding her urine anymore.

so i'm wondering if any of you guys have had to use diapers for your dogs and, if so, which you would reccomend. i tried the simple solution brand and it was kind of a joke. pee got everywhere Except the diaper. heh.

Try instead buying underpads for people and putting them where she sleeps. Then get something fairly disposable and put it over top. (My dog insists on sleeping on clothes - I don't know why. But if I leave a bra on the floor, that is what she has to sleep on, so she gets an underpad and an old t shirt).

If she needs to wear something while awake, try just buying human diapers and cutting a slit for her tail, and putting a pair of "doggy pants" on top to keep it on.

Why, yes, I do have a 17 year old dog.

thanks Jenny...i've been using those big potty training pads and they help. but i still ened up washing sheets every day and having to either send out my comforters for dry cleaning out just throwing them away.

the human diapers are a good idea; i'll have to try that out.

wow! 17! that's awesome. my dog is only 5...whatever's going on with her is really odd

Yep. I second the human diapers. I was actually watching a show the other day and their dog had to wear them. Not only do they work, but they're cheaper. If you're going that route...... try to get some with a stretchy tab. They're easier to put on and stay put. (atleast on a 10 month old). I like pampers best, but you could also try Huggies or Parents' Choice (Walmart brand).

My friend used to have an intact bitch and she'd put human diapers on her whenever she got her period so it wouldn't get blood all over the house. She just cut a little hole for her tail and it worked fine.
