    Default cell phone for regulars

Hey dudes & dudettes, I'm ready to make the next step in dancerdom and purchasing a cell phone for use in communicating with regulars. I don't want to talk to them on the phone so ideally buying a phone & loading it with mainly the ability to text (and a few minutes) is what I'm looking for. How should I go about this? I noticed that kricket wireless is flooding portland right now -- is this a good deal?

I had Cricket in PA, and I loved it.
$40 or 50 a month, an aditional $5 for unlimited text, $5 for unlimited long distance calls ( if you want it)...

The only drawback to Cricket was that the service area was limited, so my phone didnt work in a lot of places.

I wish we had Cricket here, cause I would go with that again in a heartbeat. Talk all you want, the bill never is more.

Of course, fr mainly texting that isnt so important, but still, you get unlimited texts.

But a cricket phone can be traced, and woudl show up on caller ID's....so you woudl have to get a private number.

Kaylinn: would I be able to just pay for this all in cash? As in go to the cricket store & give them cash once a month? It says you don't need to sign any contracts and there are no credit checks... wonder if I can just use an inaccurate address or something.

I'm also wondering if Virgin still has wireless around here... hmm... like, cell phones & calling cards you can just re-up with very easily with cards from the Sev.

Teaching college and high school classes required a phone for parents/students to call me, and I bought a Net10 from Tracfone. 10 cents a minute, no matter when or who you call, and it includes roaming. I've found I use it more than my regular cell phone.

    This is fantastic:

There's no actual phone associated with it, but when you recieve a message, you are able to call the phone number back, although you are restricted to 10 minutes or less (which works out anyways, you don't want to chit chat with these guys OTC, no $$). And I just discovered the callback feature thanks to CinnamonKisses!!

Other good ideas are to get a TracFone (as stated above) which I'm almost positive you don't need to put personal information on. Or any other similar company that allows you to purchase minutes in advance, and doesn't require your information. Drug dealer phones.
