^^^ boxers are hyper as hell, drool, and have breathing problems...
they dont have breathing problems i have not heard of that before?
I have a boxer and she is just perfect yes she dose drool alot but that adds caracter. And she isnt hyper if she gets enough exercise during the day. We are currently looking at getting a friend for her off this website

I guess I am justa big fan of boxers once you own one you will never want another dog
You love it!

Boxers are great but very prone to heart defects. I simply could not cope with that after Zaine passed away at 5 from cardiomyopathy.
I do remember your dog Embyr. Those puppy photos are soooooooooooo adorable.
I want a puppy right now!!

*sniff* mee tooo!!!!!
Boxers: Possible Health Concerns: Breathing problems, cardiac problems, hip dysphasia and thyroid disease. (taken from a group website) yes, you are right jaizaine.
well, whatever you get, I'm sure you'll make an awesome "mom!!"!!!
Ooo whippet!
haha but on another note...
theres this engine on animal planet called "dog breed selector"
basically you anser questions and they chose which dog matches
http://animal.discovery.com/breedsel...lectorindex.do
( its called the "dog breed selector", its on that page in the middle in the left side)
it might not make you dog decicion, but its cool to see what comes up =)
boxers if brought from a proper breader are screened for heart defects at birth and breaders will not bread with boxers that have had the defects such as hip dysplacia heart mumur and thyroid disease.
It is allways a must to buy from a breader and not a pet shop to avoid these things as much as possible
All dogs have possible health concerns as do humans I guess it is really the research you do on them and what suits your lifestyle.
Im also with embyr you will make a great mum whatever you get
This is my girl she is alot older now but still just as cute

You love it!

AWWWWWWWWWWWW what a cutey pie, I want to snuggle her.
Whats a pappion? I cant believe the number of breeds people have mentioned in this thread that I have never heard of. I thought I knew most breeds.

^^^ she means "papillon."
Yap. yap. yap. cute. but yap. they're hyper, IMHO.... my ex had one and think of a cat after giving it catnip. OMG kitty i'mma steal your dog. :-)

Oh no i dont like yappers. its like nails on the blackboard. esp since im used to the occasional deep barreled chest bark of a great dane.

Consider a Silky Terrier? My family has one going on 12 years strong. Great little dogs, lots of heart, but stubborn as hell. Takes a lot of effort to train them, but they are loyal and brave. We had one kill a snake one day when my father was walking it. They are also very alert, and bark more than yap. Go with female rather than male, our little male ages ago had a inferiority complex due to his 'mate' a female Doberman... he did love her. If you had a male you'd need a female to keep him company. At least that is my preference.
I've come a long way since I believed in anything, and I've come half way around the world.
Where you come from is gone.
Where you thought you were going to was never there,
and where you are, ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

Help this cat on his quest for World Domination!
I have two pit bulls, and I really love them. They are very bright, very sweet doggies. I feel so bad for pits because they get such a horrible rep because stupid people buy them and abuse them and train them to attack people... Terrible! Reality, they are some of the greatest dogs around.

man that corgi is cute! my mom lovs corgi's. they look like cartoons.

hhhehe actually there was a turn-of-the-century woman who does all sorts of folkloric/children's illustrations with fairies/corgis/kids... we had some of her artwork... There's a legend about corgis that the two somewhat visible "saddle marks" on either side of them were so they could be fairy steeds....here's some of her artwork! hehe MY mom was obsessed with Tasha Tudor...

There's a cute lil papillon for ya.
More info here:

They do have a yippy bark, but they're really wonderful companions. They're dainty and sweet, I just love them!
I havent read the whole thread so forgive me....why not check out the Humane Society(you guys have those there right?) They may have a PERFECT little mixed breed with all the traits you want in a dog. And you'd be saving a life!

^^^ a very good point. No dog is perfect, but you'll love whatever you get... and he/she will love you 100000 times over for saving it.

Yep...my parents wanted a West Highland Terrier. But they knew better from living with me for so long to go to a breeder(lol!)...always save a life if you can! They went to the shelter and the guy told them "good luck...we NEVER get those...but we'll let you know" Lo and behold a 1 yr old westie came in just a week later..owner died and the family brought him in. He was a great little dog...perfect for them and my mom (who never really cared for dogs...she was a bit scared of them before they got Luke) is still grieving for him.(they had to put him down about a month ago...he was 16 years old and had health problems they battled for years. The vet finally helped them make the decision when he stopped eating)
The great thing about mixed breeds is you often get the best of the breeds without the health issues that come with many purebreds.

hey Jai,
Thought I would pass on a link that may be of some help to you in choosing a registered breeder in Australia
The site www.dogzonline.com.au will be able to point you in the right direction for pure-bred, ANKC registered dogs.
I highly reccomend this site, I use it all the time as my family shows dogs (siberian huskies, beagles, shiba inus)
Good luck with your decision

what about a boston terrier, so cute and full of personality -
this first link is bound to make you smile and go.. OH NO!
Also, here's a thought - in referance to the pound issue. There are tons of dogs that need good homes, like this.
Happy puppy picking!
Rhiannon

just remember that Jai is in Australia! The relevent agency would be the local animal shelter (the pound)
