    AWWWWWWWWW he so cute.

    Maybe he is someone's pet.

Be careful they can bite straight through the bone in your finger and are as fast as light (well not quite).

Yes I say call animal control and let someone with proper equipment handle it.

But I loveeeeee reptiles and he so cute.

it looks small enough, you should be able to scoop it up with a shovel and/or nudge it into a big box... it probably needs water, so give it a deep dish with water in it and some crickets or even throw a couple of goldfish in the dish for it to eat until you can find it a home.

OR...put it in a deep box and take it to a lake or a pond and set it free!

I had a turtle for like 13 years. They do hiss, and when they bite it HURTS. Mine was really sweet though. She LOVED LOVED LOVED a dinner of crickets and fresh strawberries or peaches. Mmm mmm she'd tell me.

Most likely it's a female out laying eggs. It's really the only time snappers leave the body of water they live in.

Snapping turtles have deadly long necks and can generally reach to the back of thier shell. The lbs per inch pressure in thier jaws is crazy. You DO NOT want to be bitten.

Put her back where you found her. She'll eventually move along. They're heavy and moving on land takes a lot of of them so the rest often while traveling. In addition, if she hasn't laid yet you don't want to keep her waiting, she can become egg bound which can lead to death.

Here's one I found on her way back to water (I ended up moving her closer to water so she wouldn't get hit by a car.

*Note how I moved her, I put her in a container she couldnt turn around I or flip her head/neck up and back in

They get far bigger than that. There was a record setter (alligator snapper) in Kansas that was a tad over 400lbs if I remember correctly.

They're good for the ecology though as they're primarily scavengers and eat dead stuff off the bottoms of lakes etc keeping the water clean.
