When I danced our house mom had a witch hazel mixture we could spray on our feet at the end of the night. I don't know exactly what it did but it felt cool and relieving. Also, when I use to get sick my grandmother would rub alcohol on my feet to help break the fever. I remember it felt nice.
I tried witch hazel and water and it smelled terrible. The alcohol had a bit of a cooling effect. Any other ideas? anyone?

Is there an at home routine you use to keep your feet smooth, looking fabulous, and pain free. The only imformation I have found in past threads is toe spacers ( and of course gracious help from greenidlady1..THANK YOU for actually responding).
Is there anyone out there willing to offer some advice?![]()

When my feet feel rough, I lotion them up, put vaseline on the rougher spots and put produce bags on them, then socks on top. I keep em on as long as I can stand, then soak them and scrub, and then reapply lotion.
For pain, I just prop them up and take ibuprofen to reduce swelling (anti-inflamm). Oh and I take off all nail polish before soaking so they're ready for a new coat after drying them.
Presto! Beautiful feet![]()
thank you cyndi08
What brand of lotion do you use? Is there a particular scrub you use after you take the bags off?

I use Queen Helene Cocoa Butter lotion. It's inexpensive, but I have found all of that company's products work well (including facial masks). And for scrubbing I don't really use any products, soap to clear off the vaseline, but it varies. I do have a few exfoliating scrubs that I use every now and then. If you wear socks to bed after putting lotion on, that's supposed to help, but I don't like things on my feet when I sleep.
If you need to use a pumice stone, I would do it on dry feet. It's more effective for me that way, so you would want to do that before putting anything on them. When you're soaking, you can rub them more if you want.
The more often you wear socks, the smoother your feet will be. I hate closed shoes, so I have to be on top of my feet if I want them to stay nice.
I also put vasoline on my feet and cover them with baggies ans socks and then walk around and feel the vasoline squish between my toes..it's oddly nice.....
But your feet will be so soft after. I soak first, then pumice, then cover with vasoline.
Does the material of the sock matter? Does regular old cotton socks work, or does the fabric absorb too much of the lotion or vaseline? Is it the heat that the socks and bags create that is making this effective?

The baggies seal in the vasoline so yrou socks wont absorb it, and your skin will. SO the sock dont matter, but I like the thicker, the better.
I buy this stuff called callus remover from my local beauty store. You apply it
to the rough areas on your feet and leave on for like 3 or 4 minuites ( read the bottle cuz Im not sure)
I got it because I was tired of paying
the nail shop $10 extra when the whole bottle is like $5.
Another thing that I do is I keep a pumice on my tub that I scrub my feet and body with while soking.
I also keep one at my vanity sink , so I can scrub my hands with it while im washing them.
Im sort of vein about having super soft skin to match my golden brown complexion.
I will have to look into that callus cream for my poor big toe, then try the vaseline trick to keep the callus away.
I notice you all use pumice. I realize it is a stone, but does it wear out quickly? Do you need to store it a certain way since it is so porous? I faintly remember my sister using pumice and it would eventually turn black on spots in the shower. I was scared to touch it when I was a kid. I have always seem them for really cheap near the nail polish though.

Soak them in epsom salt and baking soda. Make the water as hot as you can stand it, you will not believe how wonderful your feet will feel.
