Default Lace Front Wigs that the Celebrites Wear

Has any one worn or have any info on them? I just found out about them.
I was thinking of getting a full head weave, but am thinking that the wig would look more realistic. They are the ones that Tyra, Jessica Simpson and Beyonce are supposedly wearing. Also, I would be getting human hair (Indian).

Golden, what ever you do, make sure you get (Virgin) Indian Remy hair. The first link I have posted has other types of remy hair that are even better grade then the Indian Remy. They look totally natural. I can't wait to get one either

I do what I can baby..the thing I love about lacefronts is that they are so natural. You can braid them, part them, it looks like scalp under the hair. AWESOME!

I have been very interested in purchasing one of these as well. I am just waiting until I save enough money (they are very expensive). The down sides that I have researched are that they are very difficult to put on by yourself and there are very few salons that are knowledgable in putting these on for you. I have also read that they are even more difficult to put on if you have hair, even if you braid in cornrows (compared to someone with cancer for instance who has lost all their hair). Lastly the glues are sometimes harsh on the skin, and if you are not careful it will damage all your hair (rip it out) all around the hair line. Even though, I really really want to buy one.
Sorry I couldn't give more first hand experience, but hopefully soon I will. I would be curious if anyone has tried one as well.

Actually, I saw it done on a TV show and it's actually quite simple to apply. Plus, with the lacefront wigs they come with an information packet to show you step by step the correct way to apply it.

There are several different adhesives that you can apply depending on the type of hold you want. Some last 3-5 days some are as strong as holding up 1 month.

What I do know from seein this on the show is that you are only applying the glue in 4-6 spots along the hairline. You are not applying it to your actual hair.

I wear regular wigs when I work, and they aren't hard to put on at all, so I dont see how different a lace front would be in application.

I wear wigs to work as well, but I am still searching for something more natural looking. I attach my wigs with boby pins which is a different process than using glue or adhesive strips. As I said before, I have not personally owned a lace front wig or a full lace wig (which seems even harder to put on since you need mirrors to see the back of your own head), but I have researched a bit. I will try to share some of the information I have researched until someone who has actually owned and used a lace front wig can chime in with their personal experience.

Most, if not all companies send step by step instructions and information packets to help you in the process.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVv0AfJQzQU
is a link to a video on youtube that will give you an idea of how to apply, remove, and clean a lace front wig. There are many other videos out there and youtube can link you to some more videos with other methods of application (like the tape adhesive which lasts a shorter time period and seems to have a lot weaker bond). I would imagine that a dancer would need a stronger more natural bond and I am not sure how strong 4-6 spots would be.

The following information is resonant of many wig sites' information as well...
Depending on the holding strength of the glue or tape you use, and the climate you live in (dry, hot, humid, etc.), you may be able to
wear your wig 1-3 weeks at a time. Most women are able to wear a wig a
week at a time before needing to remove the wig, cleanse and reapply.
Some choose to remove their wig every night, placing additional stress on the
    lace (causing tear and fray).

I think any new product is a trial and error process that doesn't always work out perfectly. Instructions help, experience improves.

The truth is, adhesives can cause hair thinning along the hairline, when used without care. The longer you keep the wig on without reapplying, the greater the risk for damage to your hairline. Applications are not reccomended for longer than 5-7 days. All adhesives break down over time. Rushed removal can cause the hair to be pulled out when you remove the wig. With proper use, careful application and removal, and reasonable application periods, you can maintain a healthy hairline.

I really hope someone who has had a lace front wig or full lace wig can help out with some more information. Most of the other info I researched seems very positive.

I am still up in the air about a place to actually purchase the wig as well.

I want quality hair (virgin remy hair would suit my need I believe),

qualtiy lace material(french or swiss lace though some companies will use different names for quality so it is hard to find a good standard, and proper color lace to match my skin tone),

lace that surrounds the entire wig, rather than just the front so I can actually put it up in a ponytail,

correct cap sizing so that it fits my head shape well,

and affordability (especially since it will be my first lace wig and I will be inexperienced, most likely wearing out the wig more quickly than I would after gaining experience in applicatiion and removal).

With all that said (and stiil a lot left unsaid) there are so many details that need to be thought about when getting the wig. It seems like the absolute best decision would be to go to a showroom or store and have one custom made. On the other hand, as a first time buyer the really important things seems to affordibility and then I can work up from there once I find out what works for me.

Now, obviously I can not vouch for these companies, but here are some places I found that actually have showrooms you can go to purchase lace wigs.

http://www.invisiwig.com/ They are in New York and I am in Texas so it is a very far travel for me. They also do not seem to have virgin remy.

http://www.divalacefrontwigs.com/ This company is based in Atlanta.

http://www.hairbyhautecouture.com/faq.htm This company is based in Baltimore and is scheduled to have a showroom open this year.

I could not find any in my area, or any areas you ladies had listed.

    As far as ordering online...
I am just not sure what the best option would be, I would much prefer a custom wig I can order and see samples in person.

    Maybe I will take a wig/work trip...

I love these wigs...I have 6 of them.

My Indian Hair.com isn't reputable anymore. I knew the owner and since she stepped back from the business it got bad and now that she has been deceased for a while it is really, really bad. Don't trust them, seriously. They will take your money and if you even ever get a wig, it will be a piece of crap.

There is this Chinese wig vendor named Jacksun, his wigs are really great. I have 4 from him. His Yaky and BodyWave wigs ROCK! They are really inexpensive, too. Most of them are in the $200-$300 range and great quality.

A bleach bath works wonders on wigs to improve quality and fix the cuticles and cut out tangles.

Jacksun site: http://www.shuangyehair.com/ his Fotki Album: http://public.fotki.com/Jacksun/

I have a unit from Freedele (they make good curly units) and then another from Kevincn (best straight units I've seen in a while).

This is a great forum about wigs, weaves, and more. It's Black Haircare but it has tons of info that ANYONE could use. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=79

Thanks a bunch Amber Honey. Ive been trying to wait for one of the ladies to PM the info to Jacksons website. I heard him and both Kevins had it going on. Did you have any problem with any of the units not fitting?

Did you do cutom or stock? Have you ever tried Lydia? Thanks!!!

If he performs bleach baths to the wigs, then technically the hair wouldn't be virgin anymore..it will be like regular old cheap wig store hair you get in the packs at the store.

I've heard of Lydia but never had a unit from there.

I got the custom wigs. He will send you a form and show you how to measure your head. I suggest putting your hair up how it will be under the wig. For me, I'd braid my hair around in a circle and put a wig cap on, THEN have someone else measure me.

Stock wigs work for people with regular heads. I have a big noggin, lol. If you can go to a store, slap a baseball cap on and it fits you PERFECTLY when your hair is in a ponytail...stock wigs might work for you. But if hats sit too low, too high, don't come down on the sides, or are very big or very small on you...don't waste your money on a stock wig cuz no matter what you do, they won't work.

Noooo I meant if you have your wig for a while and it ever gets tangled or whatever a bleach bath will add life to it again.

Since I escort, my wigs take a lot of wear and tear from...um...sheet friction

Also there is this stuff called Silicon Mix that you can use. You can wash or bathe it out and reapply. It's like constantly refreshing the hair.

But I usually only do all that after about a year when the wig is doomed anyways. I get another couple months of great looking wear out of them when I do all of that.

    Buying LF Wigs Online

Thank you for taking the time to read our guide. We hope that we can provide you with tips on purchasing the best lace front wig and help you avoid disappointments, scams and costly mistakes.

The 10 Commandments to Follow When Buying Lace Front Wigs Online

    1. Thou shall find out how long the seller has been in business and if they do indeed make or order their wigs elsewhere. Many sellers purchase their wigs overseas from mass produced shops. They gather your measurements and then ship them off to the foreign shops to be created. This can be a bit risky since most foreign suppliers focus on quantity and not quality which could result in a poorly made unit that only last for a few weeks to a month. Also if there is a mistake with your custom unit then the wig will have to be sent back for repairs which will take even longer. Make sure you know what your sellers policies are in the event that your wig comes back with defects or errors.
    2. Thou shall ask the seller for references Many lace front sellers keep a compiled list of references for potential customers interested in purchasing a unit but would like to contact past customers first. Ebay feedback is great for viewing customers remarks about the sellers wigs.
    3. Thou shall be leary of 0 and private feedbacks. Zero feedback doesn't mean that the seller is not legit. To be on the safe side request references or ask if they have any sample photos of their actual work. A lot of sellers use private feedbacks which means no one can view what is being said about their items. This is a red flag for most when ordering such a personal, costly item.
    4. Thou shall do your own research. Make sure that you are fully educated on lace front wigs before making the decision to purchase one. Talk with others who wear & sell lace front wigs.Applying a lace front wig is an art within itself so get educated on the pros and cons of these wigs.
    5. Thou shall ask thyself if the price is reasonable A decent price for a lace front is hard to determine since people value their products at different levels. If the seller makes their own lace fronts and does not order wholesale then the price will be higher usually ranging from $500-$1,000 depending on length. It takes 40-60 hours for highly experienced wig makers to create a full hand-tied wig. Find out what others are paying for their wigs and the quality of the wig.
    6. Thou shall request photos of the actual wig or photos of the sellers work Don't settle for celebrity photos on stock units. Matter of fact, don't settle for celebrity photos at all, not unless they are being used to compare their actual wig against a celebrities to show similarities. Reputable sellers do not use copyrighted celebrity photos to solely endorse their product. 1.) The celebrity in the photo may not even be wearing a lace front 2.) If they are, it is theft and misrepresentation of someone elses work and not that of the seller (unless noted that it is indeed their work) If you want to view the wig from a different angle ask the seller for a photo of the wig from that angle. Don't be hesitant to request the pictures you will need in order to make a decision to purchase. Most sellers will be more than happy to accomodate your wishes.
    7. Thou shall be sure the seller will offer after-purchase customer service. Customer service is big when purchasing a lace front wig. You may need help after you recieve your wig. Be sure to order from a seller that will offer you after service support and responds fast and professionally to all your request.
    8. Thou shall know the sellers policy. Be sure to read the entire ebay listing and make yourself familiar with their return policy and the way unsatisfactory is handled. If you are not confident the wig will fit, either ask for assistance on measuring your head or don't purchase the unit. Most sellers do not offer a refund which means you may get stuck with a unit that doesn't fit.
    9. Thou shall make sure the lace front wig comes with a guide Any product should come with a guide of use and care. Lace front wigs are no exception. Make sure that your wig comes with a guide that tells you how to apply, remove and take basic care of your unit.
    10. Thou shall remember the signs of danger. Be leary of sellers who do not respond to messages, stress immediate payment over and over again in their listing, does not have photos of their actual products or uses photos stolen from other sellers, has private, negative and or 0 feedback, does not offer after-purchase customer service, use celebrity photos to solely sell their products, has unorganized unprofessional listings, constantly uses 1 day listings. Also check the sellers completed listing in search of self-bidding.

These are just a few basic things to consider when purchasing a lace front wig online. If a seller has a few of these signs it doesn't mean that they are automatically a bad seller or scammer. Every seller has a way that they do business so what it comes down to is your personal choice. Do your research & choose a seller that you feel comfortable with.

    Happy Lace Front Buying!!
