    Default Anti depressants

I have been taking Paxil CR for about a year. I come from a family where everyone takes them. I have taken ati depressants since high school. I was just wondering if any of you girls take them? Do you tell your friends and boyfriends? I just had a bad experince today from Paxil. My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks so I have to borrow cars to ger around. I have not taken my paxil for days. I was going crazy. I was dizzy, crying. It was the worst feeling ever. My prescription was at the store just waiting to be picked up, but I couldn't tell my boyfriend that I HAD to have the car ASAP to pick it up. It was the worst feeling ever going thru withdrawl. I want to tell him but I don't know what he will think. Have any of you had withdrawl symptoms before? How do you tell your boyfriend/friends?

I am just scared to tell certain people because alot of people do not understand depression. Any advice would be nice.

Paxil withdrawel sucks big time. My family physician put me on it and when I came off I had to hire a shrink to help me. She prescribed Klonopin to help me deal with the side effects. It can be really rough.

I have been on and off (mostly on) anti-depressants since I was 14 (im 27).

Always have a spare one hidden somewhere so that if you have forgotten to fill your prescription you wont be stuck without one. The symptoms can be terrible if you miss one. I take luvox and if I miss one I get very anxious, nauseas, dizzy, a headache and sometimes throw up.

Never just stop taking them cold turkey. If you want to get off them you have to wean yourself off them over a period of about a week. So for instance if you take one full tablet, take 3/4 the first day, then 1/2 the second or 3rd day and so on until you are finished. This prevents withdrawal.

I am quite open about being on them. I will tell anyone really if the topic comes up. I wasn't always like this. Up until I was about 25 very few people knew - even less knew when I was a teenager.

But now I realise that it's just like having any other illness and having to take mediciation for it and I dont find it embarassing.

    Thats ok.

You know I usually get the reaction "Oh yeh" or "oh i have been on them too" now. It's just so common thesedays.

There are a few threads floating around about specific brands of anti's.... there are more gals around here currently/previously on them than ya'd think

I was on tons of them from the age of 4 until the age of 18. More than I can recall really. I remember some names, some shapes, that's about it. Thanks to them I never developed a sex drive.

If you really want a serious, long lasting relationship with this guy, you have to be honest with him. He's gonna worry if/when he notices you acting odd due to withdrawal. It really isn't fair to either of you to keep this to yourself. IMHO.

    hey heaven,
its so funny i just read your post cuz i was going through the exaqct sam thing yesterdy. Im on wellbutrin not paxil, but i had skipped my pills for a few days and drank for a dew more, which kinda cancels out the effectiveness of my meds. So i was pretty much crying all day, didnt want to get outta bed, etc. Really bad. My by was with me the whole time, weve been together bout 6 months now and i have this huge tough exterior and thts the first time ive let him see me upset and crying so i was a little nervous qabout how hed react. He was awesome, just held me til i fell asleep hes totallyh my soulmate tho. If u love the guy and think that you guys are right for each other, let your guard down and show ur flaws. Sometimes when you expose urself like that it brings people eveb closer. Good luck, PM me if you ever need 2 vent , lemme know how it goes if u ever decide to get off em for good

I'm taking Paxil and Strattera. Correction, WAS.

It was making me really super crazy feeling and out of control with my sleep, etc. I was sweating, falling over, it made my blood pressure go up...I tried it for a month and stopped taking it. I also couldn't orgasm to save my life. I tried the tried and true clit rubbing and shower massager to no avail, getting head from the best head guy EVER - nada. Cvolt battery vibrators, plug in vibrators, nada. My whole body was numb. To pain, pleasure, everything.

I was so depressed recently that I actually came to the conclusion that everything was gonna be okay because I was gonna kill myself. I paid a membership fee to the cremation society, spoke with the local chapter...I was really just ready to check out and happy about it. I don't feel that way now... but the feelings were really, really strong and I actually thing that if I had a non painful/non scary method to do it, I would have done it.

I need an anti-depressant and I also need something to help me focus but I dunno if these are gonna work for me. My shrink keeps asking me to try, and she did up my dosage. But I haven't told her that I stopped taking them like 2 weeks ago. I feel much better being my old depressed, anti-social, mildly paranoid insomniac self instead of the 'hell bent on dying crying for 10 hours straight everyone is trying to hurt me cant even get out of the bed to drag myself to the shower' self.

Try not to be afraid of telling people close to you. I'm pretty much an open book when it comes to it,and can talk to family, friends and my bf no bother. But still i always phone up my prescription because i'm scared of being judged by my doctor?!
When i told my bf he told me that his mum takes them to and we had a nice wee discussion. You might be surprised! I'd think that quite a large percentage of people are taking anti-depressants, and he might even be taking them too.
