    Default I think I'm quitting?

    I have no idea.

I asked work to put me on temporary 'work hold'. Meaning, I only want to do one or two shifts a week and only duos if it means Dee will lose out on money (as I don't want my leaving to influence her money). I'm heading off to Melbourne soon...

The thing is.. I could've give a shit. I'm not quitting but I'm not sticking around to watch the ship sink either.

I just want to stop and do a little work. Michael's getting another raise and promised to take care of me as long as I do SOMETHING involving work (which is like one photoshoot a week to make him happy).

I'm thinking of going to school and get a degree or certificate or something whatever in appraisals so I can start doing my antiquing more often, as I have discovered nearly everything I bought since I started it has been worth up to 100x what I paid. I'm really good at it and I like it.. so why not get some classes in appraisal and just take life.. I dunno.. slowly?

I don't want the fast life right now. Maybe in a few months. Maybe I can dance two nights a month and make a grand or so and just slowly spend that... or do some more magazine shoots... I dunno.

    ...I'm not burnt out, really.

    I just think I'm... done.

    Huh.

Dancing one night a week is very compatible with studying and pursuing other interests, and if you're making good money consistently, you could probably live on that or even less.

Dancing has mostly lost its magic for me too, maybe because my last experience was much suckier than I remember my prior ones being (possibly because I don't drink anymore). In fact, my last experience made me wonder how I ever could have thought I was cut out to be a dancer (given how introverted, shy and uncoordinated I actually am. Also, I wobble noticeably in stilettos).

Well with Michael paying all the bills and my savings staying put (it's my 'get out of marriage free' money - JUST in case).. I'd only need to dance to purchase random doodads for school, more antiques, or a night with my friends at the movies. Michael's raise puts him at $30 an hour and he's now working 50 hours a week.... I could always just dance an extra day or two if bills become a bit worse, right?

I'm just totally thinking I'm over it for now. Probably not a long-term decision... but a pretty good right-now one.

I wonder if I could really study... is it really that good for that?! I want to go back to school SO FRICKEN bad. I mean -so- bad. Someone even has it in my siggy that I'm jealous of her for having to take a test! Hahah.

I still wanna dance in Melbourne.. if not just to pay for my vacation.

Plus dancing in different states and clubs is more fun.

I combined study and dancing for a while, though study really isn't compatible with working more than one night a week (at least, it wasn't for me). You really do need the bulk of your days off to do your reading for the course and just plain old chill out (at least in law you do, I found Arts less time-consuming except during assessment periods). Also, working nights makes it difficult to get up and go to morning classes. I also find the two mental states- study mode and stripper mode- just aren't compatible. I was mostly okay not working too much, though. It's just that when stripping becomes a significant part of your life that there are clashes.

Having said this, jaizaine works two full nights a week as well as studying law full-time, so it's possible that I'm just a stress-head who can't successfully meet multiple commitments (I don't think my perfectionism helps, though- I have to make myself read every little prescribed case for every subject and can't ever bear to miss a class, which is something I'm not sure that other students do. I also study for exams by writing out the entirety of my notes for the Semester).

Going back to school is an awesome idea, if it's something you're ready for. There's nothing for which I'd trade my higher education. It's something I really, really appreciate having had the opportunity for. Having said that, my impending exams are stressing the fuck out of me right now. Maybe I should get back to my notes instead of...hmm...posting on stripperweb.

Hello and welcome to my world!

Ever since I took my first steps out from just stripping on the Gold Coast way back when ... I have been loving it ever since. I really can't stay 'grounded' unless for a good reason (at the moment - moving and my burlesque are good enough reasons for me to stay grounded and not travel for the time being).

Now you can see why I chose to travel alot. Yes it impacted my work opportuities back home here in re private parties (as you know) however I have learnt something about myself ... I thrive on new experiences. I like routine yet only to a point. I like being challenged and dancing in different cities (even in different clubs in that city) is a challege. I actually thrive off nervous excitement (I've found out).... plus "a change is as good as a vacation" is true for me.

I did burn out tho' unlike you.

I say stick with the private party scene and just do it one night or two nights per week - Friday and Saturday or even do so in a club (if you can get away with it).

In the end, you will make the right decision for you. Do not concern yourself about others as there is one thing I can assure you in re private parties and stripping in general --- business will go on as per usual with or without you.

If you can't see yourself actually attending a uni ... you could always opt to do a course via distance education and/or over the internet.

What do you mean not seeing myself actually attending a uni? I've ALWAYS wanted to go to school and I thought I made that clear. *confused* I want to go anywhere that'll accept me. Uni especially.

I just... I want to travel and work off my travel while there and spend all the money I make on tourist stuff there. And then I wanna go home and only work enough to pay for the fun stuff I like.

I just don't want work to be my life any more.

Work doesn't have to be your life if you have other hobbies and interests.

It's the reason why I am getting into Burlesque. I wanted something more to do ... and after I finish moving home and since I will be so so close to the animal pound here on the coast... I will finally be able to volunteer there as well (something i've always wanted to do).

This way work helps me have a life - it isn't my life.

Regardless, as I said, you will make the right decision for you. Do not concern yourself about others as there is one thing I can assure you in re private parties and stripping in general --- business will go on as per usual with or without you.

School can put a damper on travel, unless it's just one or two days a week and you travel on the weekends. Correspondance/internet classes might be more compatable with a lot of travel.

But it sounds like school is enough of a priority for you to put off the travel? I can totally see you as one of those perpetual students with a gazillion degrees just cause you love school.

    Hold your breath everyone because....

I quit working for Red Hot!!

No effing joke. I couldn't take it any more.

I'll be working with Jo's now... y'know, a place that actually wants me.

Are you working exclusively with Jo? Do I get to have you to myself again (if I apply to work for Jo's agency as well)? j/k

Wow. As I said, you know what is best for you. Shame Red Hot didn't work out after everything you went thru to secure the exclusivity! You went thru alot to get where you got with them. I hope you have just as much success with Jo now.

    I havn't worked for/with that agency yet.
