Default Root Beer-Help Me Settle A Disagreement

So, last night I was drinking a root beer and mentioned something to Boyfriend about how root beer has no caffeine. He said, "That's not true. There's at least one brand that does." He went on to say that he thought it was either Barq's or Dad's root beer that has caffeine.

    Anyone wanna help out here?

I'm pretty sure none of them have caffeine. It was something I could drink when I was pregnant.

I should add that Barq's sold in Utah has no caffine because of the CLDS(the mormons)

The Barq's I buy has no caffeine in it. Maybe because it's diet.

I always reach for a Barqs when I need a jolt but I'm sick of Mountain Dew.

Diet Barqs to my knowledge does NOT have caffine.

^^ Nope. No drugs, alcohol, or caffeine. Utah is the only place I can recall seeing Caffeine-free Diet Coke on tap - that stuff is everywhere.

Muslims aren't supposed to drink alcohol, either. Some of the hardiest partiers I have ever met have been Mormons and Muslims.

Back on topic. There's a microbrew that, besides beer, makes its own cream soda and root beer. So I take it that local-made root beer won't have caffeine? (It's delicious, BTW.)

BJ's brewery makes the dopest root beer, most def.

Back on-topic: There's also Rat Bastard Root Beer (which isn't all that good, IMO) which has caffeine.

Dirty Dog Root Beer, caffine up to yin yang. Also other stuff in it. The only good tasting Root Beer I could get in NZ.

Thomas Kemper out of Seattle is a damn fine root beer; made with real honey.

Not sure if this is true, but I had a professor tell me that Dr. Pepper has more caffeine than any other soft drink. May be something worth checking out if you are tired of the other caffeine rich drinks.

^^^ Diet Coke has more caffeine than Dr. Pepper.

[RoseWhite: I actually posted a link to the vid last month. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was signature worthy.]

Man I used to drink Dr. Pepper SOOOO much. When I had a "good" can (yes, I told myself that I could taste "good"/"bad" batches,), I would RACE back to the store and buy more 24 packs.

    And somehow, it's cheaper...than water...

You know, its sort of weird that we've been discussing this whole thread whether root beer had caffeine in it. I did a little research and found out that are indeed alcoholic versions of root beer. Although ironically enough, it was the prohibition/temperance era where root beer got its foothold as a popular soft drink beverage.

Come to Australia, where we have alcoholic ginger ale, sarsaparilla and lemon-lime soda!
