    Default sprint or cingular?

well, just wanting some opinions here but my cell phone is old and my contract is up so i'm now going month-to-month with sprint. planning on doing this til the phone breaks. after that, i'm trying to decide between sprint or cingular. which ones do you girls like better? why? i'm an old fart with the phones, so the next one i get will pretty much just be for simple calls, no camera phone, web access, etc. needed. i do need something with good reception as i do travel.

I was miserable with Sprint. Their customer service is awful, the service dropped out all the time, and I HATED every interaction I had to have with them. They automatically renewed my plan after I told them not to, and then charged me a ridiculous fee to get out of the plan. They also lied and said I'd get a new phone at one point, then charged me for it and said they never said it was going to be free; evidently there's a lot of miscommunication between the people in the store and the people on the phones.

I switched to Cingular last year and I like them very much. Very reliable, good serivce, no problems.

Well Ive had Cingular since 03. I havent had any other cell company but I can say I used to sell Sprint phones. I hated Sprints plans and they were always confusing to customers. Yet Cingular is now At&T and Sprint has joined with Nextel which could make both companies coverage area larger.

Sprint sucks, don't get it. My service is horrible and half the time I don't get my voicemails for DAYS after they were left.

this is totally a location based question. Really, both companies offer great stable service, but it is location dependent. '
(during the merger though, sprint has been sucking)

Why are you considering changing services?
What about cingular appeals to you?

Verizon ripped me off BIGTIME. I've been with Cingular for 2 years now.

Sprint is the worst one out of three or four cell phone carriers i have dealt with. Shitty reception, lots of extra fees for no reason, very incompetent people working in their stores, etc.

I got my very first cellphone with sprint over 5 years ago. I've never had a problem with them since, and I would probably be quite lost in the whole cellphone era/craze without them.

they are pretty much the same here. I switched from sprint to cingular and there was no difference in service. I jsut went with who had the phone I wanted.

I hate Sprint & Cingular. I got awful customer service from both of them. When I had Sprint my phone wouldn't always ring (and I never dropped it, got it wet, etc) and I sometimes wouldn't get voicemails for days. I wanted to change my plan when I had Cingular so I called their 800 number - they left me on hold for over half an hour & charged me for it!!!

I love US Cellular (unfortunately they're not available everywhere yet). I've been using T-Mobile since January & I love them - great service, no dropped calls & good customer service.

I hated Sprint. They were terriible.

I have Cingular, and they're ok. I have heard a lot of good things from T Moble, and kinda wish I had them. Maybe when my Cingular contract expires....

Suprisingly enough, my favorite cell company was ghetto Cricket. Its limited coverage area, but $50 set monthly bill, unlimited calls. I really liked them. But they aren't nationwide.

Verizon's been fine with me. Put me on a cheaper plan based on my history. Coverage around the U.S., and into Mexico and Canada, has been good. Never have given me a reason to want to change.

I've got Sprint, I've had them on and off since I was 19. They are EVIL. I've had all kinds of problems with them, but they have the best coverage because of all the travel that I do. If they didn't have that one thing going for them, I would have left a long time ago.

    CRICKET

    SUCKS

    SWEATY JOCK-ITCH BALLS.

I have friends with Cricket. Calls are dropped regularly, and text messages and voicemails may not be received for hours or days. I live in a major metropolitan area, so lines get tangled like threads. I would rather gargle a bucket of diarrhea than sign on with Cricket.

If you must choose between Cingular and Sprint, go with Cingular. It's very nationwide, and you'll usually find coverage. Their customer service sucks ass though.

You know, I've never heard anything good about Sprint...ever.

I'm going to get Cingular when my current contract is up. *Sigh* January can't come fast enough.

I loved Cricket, but they're not in L.A. Verizon ripped me right the hell off. Cingular is the only cell phone company I've ever gotten really good customer service from, and customer service is a big deal to me. Their rates are very reasonable, too.

^ I also like that you can stick it all in one bill with home phone and DSL...I can't keep track of my bills as it is, so that will be a really good thing for me.

I had to call sprint regarding an IDEN phone and unlocking.... they will never have my personal business.

I've never cared for Sprint at all. Cingular was really good for a while. It seems like Verizon is where it's at...but i have T-Mobile only cause there plans are cheap. But they suck to.

I started off with Sprint.. some dropped calls, some spotty coverage.. went out of contract and needed a new phone.. they didn't pony up enough toward what I wanted. That's when I switched to Verizon. I was with them for a little over two years. Coverage was better than Sprint, but dropped calls were worse.. Again went out of contract.. and again was ready for a new phone and was aggravated with the dropped calls. So back to Sprint with an excellent phone, and the coverage is much improved over what it used to be and better than Verizon's.. and so far zero dropped calls. The other carriers just never seemed to have a plan that fit me budget/needs-wise..

I highly suggest checking one of the major "deal" sites (ie fatwallet or slickdeals) and doing a search on "SERO".. might be worth your time..
