Default Slightly Abnormal Bleeding, Should I Be Concerned?

Okay, so I got my first Depo shot about a month ago. I started bleeding very slowly but steadily a week ago. The bleeding picked up a couple of days ago for one day and then it slowed down again... This is just my body adjusting to the shot, right? My periods are always extremely heavy and they last 3-4 days.

It takes awhile for your body to adjust. My friend had almost steady light bleeding for the first two shots but now she's having normal light periods for only three days. Everyone reacts differently but make sure to tell your doctor at your next appointment. Good Luck!

It's normal. Some women will spot and bleed for the entire first shot, and it should taper off and stop completly after the second shot.

WOW we are in the same boat! I got my first Depo shot in May, and I just got my second one on Saturday. I've had the spotting the whole time, and I STILL am. I asked the doc on Saturday when it would stop, all she said was "soon". But she did let me know that you can get the shot up to two weeks early, and that will keep you from starting a period between shots. But I'm still waiting for this stupid spotting to go away.
It's nothing to be concerned about. My doc said even if I was bleeding heavily with cramps, it's probably normal. You just need to wait it out sweetie, I'm waiting with ya!

Spotting and even break-through bleeding is pretty typical with depo particularly the first six months you're on it.

Ah yes, I remember this thread.

Update: The bleeding lasted for another week. Now, I just spot this ugly brown blood every once in awhile. It keeps lessening though.

Yep, that's what I've got. Although, that's what I meant as spotting, that little brown blood... maybe I've got the gyno lingo wrong..

    DEPO IS EVIL!!!

I wish I knew why doctors continue to let girls put their body through this shot... ugh... My family doc and my gyno refuse to prescribe it now along with many other doctors... this shit fucks your body up in a bad way.

Because it's actually not so bad to other women. All birth control is different depending on the person. I use Implanon now, which has the same hormones as Depo and Depo was good to me.
