    Default Relief from Heat Rash..

Hey all! I have a friend of mine who is over in Iraq. He told me the other day that he has a heat rash from all the equipment and stuff he has to wear. He told me there isn't really anything he can do about it.

I was wondering if any of you know of any natural treatments, or store bought items that I could send to him to bring him some relief. I can only imagine how uncomfy he is

Does his equipment rub on him so its then giving him heat rash? Or it just springs out of nowhere?

There are anti-histamines that can keep him from itching and take away some swelling. Also, maybe covering the spots with baby powder and wearing something that slicks away sweat could work. Or covering them with bandages where he gets them the most so that the equipment rubs on the bandages and not him.

My mom uses gold bond powder ever since she first got heat rash in the 80's and I got my first rash just a week ago so I tried the powder too . I think he will have a hard time using anything since they are out for such long periods of time , ya know ? Unless he can carry some with him ? For me I get a heat rash when I wear those tank tops with the built in bra , something to do with the elastic ...maybe its something like that too ??? I wonder if diaper rash cream would work ?? Like desatin ?

I bought this anti chafing stuff from a running store, it literally looks like a stick of deodorant but its more like solid lube to help prevent friction I use it on the tops of my feet for strappy sandals that hurt! I'm just not sure if it is hot there if it would melt..

I think monistat makes some kind of chafing product but I dont know what form it comes in.

    http://runnershigh.com/shop/body.asp <--this is what I have

http://www.soothingcare.com/soothing...x_soothing.htm <-link to monistat stuff, apparantly they have more than one product

but it just occurred to me theyd probably give him hell for using a monistat product LOL

I hear gold bond powder is great but never tried it (or is that the commercials that brain washed me cant remember lol)

Baby powder in general will help keep him dry. I also second diaper rash creams but those are a little better than monistat lol I guess he can hide it somewhere hehe

Oh and tell him THANK YOU and hope he comes home very soon

P.S. Viviana, he comes home for leave in March! He'll probably be calling at some point today, I'll send him your love.
