Ok so at my current club the best show costs 200 cash. However, if he uses a credit card we charge 300. Cash rules way better over credit. I'd love cash but sometimes credit is the only option.

To explain the extra 100 to you guys is this: when he charges 200 on his card we only get 130 of it. When I ask for 300 (only when using his credit card to pay) I get 190. I only do this (as well as others) to keep from getting screwed while doing this pricey show when he's using his credit card.

How can I word it to the customer to bring cash next time so that even though he's paying credit this time he'll pay less if he brings cash? I'm thinking if they see someone else I'm going to look all greedy when other girls do the same thing with credit cards as I do.

I always explained that the club charged a surcharge to the custie for using a CC because the CC company charges to use their service..plus it takes extra time, therefore taking up the hostess/waitress/whoever is running the cards..time.
AND that since the club is basically fronting us the money for CC charges since they havent recieved the money from the CC company yet,the club charges the girl a surcharge to cash it in.
Therefore..if he brings cash next time he can avoid all the surcharges.

Though...make sure to tell him this AFTER your show...or else you risk him saying "well..I'll just go get cash then"..and not coming back!

Do I tell him if he asks? Sometimes they never ask.

Well, I see if I don't tell him and he still sees another he'll think I'm still greedy. Thats only if he brings cash. Or does this mean he doesn't care about the money? Thanks for helping with this; I'm going word it to him in your first post.

Hmmm...well you could say it like a 'by the way...I dont know if you care or not but next time you come to see me if you bring cash instead you'll avoid a lot of surcharges"

Then he can thank you for your honesty(and hopefully tell you when he'll be back to see you) or say that he prefers to use his card and doesnt care. Either way...you've let him know.

Thanks a bunch! I try to avoid using credit cards but sometimes thats all you have. Either more money in credit or wtvr they have in cash. Sometimes the cash is usually less when they offer their card. Then we get a commission check and taxed 10% of whatever the amount is.

You get taxed? That sucks. I've never worked in a club where you got taxed or where you recieved a check.

FWIW, i usually say, as he and i are walking to use a CC, "you know, it's cheaper if you use cash, in case you care." and then when he says he doesn't, you can even ask for a tip on CC. (i hope you can in the set up you're in) if he says that's all he brought, that's when i'd say, well, now you know for next time, that cash is cheaper for you. he may not care, in which case drop it. if he's really concerned with cash, point him towards the atm if you have one. if not, tell him, "im so sorry! well at least now you know how much fun this is for next time, so you can bring enough for us to play!"

    hope that helps!

    Love it!

I would def. tell him after. If a custy comes back next time he might get 2 shows b/c he is willing to pay 400$ but not 600$.

Wow...an extra $100 to use a credit card? Is this common? I only ask because I have never pulled out the plastic in a club before. Do they have the same surcharge for a cash advance? If not, you could encourage him to get a cash advance and then use cash.

No, there is no credit card charge us dancers just get stick with paying out more for the use of his credit card so we just only get 60-70 bucks of each 100. And no the 100 'surcharge' is not common. I always encourage the use of cash but instead of having them leave to go get cash at the risk of them not coming back I offer the use of our credit machine.

It is common for clubs to charge the customer a surcharge for using their CC, plus they take a cut out of what the dancer gets in funny money (example: if I were to buy $200 in funny money, it would cost me $220, but the dancer only gets $180). That alone should be incentive enough for the customer to always use cash in the club.

What I usually do with a favorite, if I do use a credit card, is tip her more than the club's cut (so in the above scenario, I'd pay the $220 for her to get $200, then tip her $40-50).

Back to TM's original question, I would put it similarly to Cameron...encourage the use of cash because it will cost him extra to use his card (ie. if he uses the card it will cost him $300 for you to receive $200, or something along those lines).

I re-read the OP again. Now, I get it. I am a little slow I guess. I am glad I bring cash into clubs. I had a friend get a cash advance once, but I don't recall the surcharge being that high (I could be wrong though).

I would explain it to him (me being a customer) similar to what Cameron said. I know I would be understanding if I knew how big a cut was coming out of your pay on that transaction. Not necessarily speaking for all customers though.

Wow. Your club needs a new payment processor! They should get much better rates with the high CC volume that I assume they are doing.

Ya I wish. Hold on with me for a minute I'll tell ya more...bare with me
Its costs $40 for 20 minutes to rent the room. (sort of like an entry fee, no drinks) If he wants to stay longer its an extra $30 for another 20 minutes. Another 20 min is another $40. Just keeps going like that.

On top of renting the room its customary that he tips. Here is where he can use his card to pay for it all. He pays $40 to rent the room plus a $60 tip for me = $100. However, the more generous he is the better show he gets. Also, the more shows I get the more days I get next month to work. Its based on a stats system. If you made your quota in shows then you get more days. So when he tips me $300 on credit he thinks Im getting $260 and he's still paying the fee of $40 in that $300.

*breathes* So I have to word it funny not letting him get more time but in exchange I end up getting more shows equaling more days. If he gets more time, like 40 minutes, it cuts my tip down ending up working for twice the time for the same amount of tip - which I don't do. However, getting too much credit gives me less cash overall in pocket when I go home.

    Hope that all made sense.

The idea of the surcharge is great. Another thing you might want to add to that is say, "Also, it's kind of a buzz-kill for me to have to deal with all that and it's time we're not spending together while we have to deal with the card".

Phew, I don't think I followed that last posting completely with all the ways of selling the room...however, have you thought about presenting it like you were cutting him a deal with the cash. Like, oh the next time you come in, if you bring cash instead of credit, then I will be able to do XYZ for $XXX instead of the $XXX that you paid today.

I think mentioning surcharges with custies is best avoided if possible. There are a million reasons the club charges more for CCs, but we don't have to waste time justifying it...so easier to avoid the topic. I'd rather just roll my eyes and do a little "you know how clubs are". But making it seem like you are cutting them a deal makes them feel special, like you want them, blah, blah, blah.
