    Default Ovarian Failure

Well i go back to the Dr. on the 22nd ut it looks like i'm in stage 2 premature ovarian failure (POF) i'm otherwise a fairly healthy person always had regular periods, this month i was over 2wks late had some spotting before it was due then a full period over 2wks later. I'm 25 and this seems like crazy talk to me. Anyone have any experience this with this type of diagnosis?

Wow! One of my aunts went through this at 21. Do you have any of the other symptoms besides the late/missed period?

I went through it at 16. I take the Pill for estrogen replacement, but now apparently I'm still low on estrogen, so I have to go see what else I can take. But I've never wanted children so apart from the hot flashes, I don't mind at all. In fact, I got my latest tests back and the nurse said, "Your FSH levels are normal, so your ovaries are still functioning..." and I was like, WHAT?! Oh hell no.

Is your body weight and body mass index in a normal range for your height?

Obviously this can vary by individual, but POF is generally indicated by hormone levels, as opposed to amenhorrea, which is usually caused by being underweight/underfat. If she has regular periods up to this point, it's probably not a weight issue. Mine too was not related to weight.

on day 3 of my last cycle, my FSH level was 11.0 normal would have been under 8, and my estrogen level was at 80.1 and should have been under 50. i go for retesting on the estrogen on Friday the 22nd, and a complete retest on everything on my next day 3. I had been complaining to my doctor about problems for a long time after my daughter was born and they kept telling me stress, i saw a neurologist, cardiologist, regular GYN and a 2nd GP and this is all they kept telling me well apparently their wrong, because i progressed from stage 1 to stage 2 in under 1 1/2yrs. I always had very regular periods, but i did however have a history of ovarian cysts after i turned 21 i would get horrible cramps every month to the point where the doc gave me painkillers for them. They ran tests and still said nothings wrong its just cramps, so how do you know otherwise
