Default SAve a dog scheme. Im so sad.

    http://www.saveadog.org.au/dogs/dogs_medlarge.asp

I'm tempted to go and pick up Bonza the 6 year old male dalmation tomorrow. It says he has had a hard life and needs an owner who is home a lot (I am home all day).

His story just pulled at the heart strings.

Im not sure if I can have a dalmation tho it says they are an extremely active breed.

So if anyone in Melb is looking for an adult dog who is in need of lots of love check of Bonza and the website in general.

They are a non-profit website for dogs whose time is up at various shelters and pounds, to give them extra time to get adopted.

Dalmatians are extremely active. But hey, you can take up jogging with him and stay fit!

Bonza is adorable. I had a Dalmation once. They are tempermental animals. If treated badly, they can be mean.
My dalmation was very very protective of me. He would growl at anyone who came near me, even my family. I was the only one who could care for him. They are extreamly active and need room to run. I lived on a farm where he could run free outside.

But they are loyal, loving animals with the right care. I'd love to have another dalmation.

Kaylinn, my great dane Zaine was like that but only towards men. He would not tolerate any men except my dad and bf and a few other guys he had met as a pup. But any man who he didn't know he would just sit in the corner and snarl and growl. I dont know how he became like that, when he was young he liked everyone and we raised him to be very social and friendly. He was onyl like that in the house too. If I took him to the beach or for a walk he didn't do it.

^^^ He was threatened by the presence of other males in his territory. You failed to establish the humans as the pack leaders, and he saw himself as the pack leader instead; he was willing to share "his" territory with the rest of his pack, but not with strange males (who he figured he might have to fight for territory and dominance).
