    Default cosmtic tattoos

i have a mole on my face that i really love, but over the years it has faded and isn't very noticeable anymore. i'm interested in getting it tattoed to look the way it used to.

have any of you done anything like this? i know you can get eyeliner and stuff tattoed on, so i would imagine i could this too. would i go to a regular tattoo artist or a cosmetologist?

and do you think it's safe to tattoo moles? it probably is, right?

I've never had this done, but a lot of people I know have...It's relatively easy. I know you can get them done at a lot of spas.

I have one on my face kinda down below the corner of my mouth that has lightened up over the years as well. I've actually thought about getting it removed because now it looks like a huge zit! My great grandma had one in the same spot and hers was the same color as her skin and had 3 massive gray hairs growing out of it. Guess that's what I get to look forward to haha. The tattooing sounds interesting though. Ima have to look into that some more.

Darn, just found this on tattoo.about.com.

"Although moles are usually benign and we go through life ignoring them, there is always the possibility that a mole could serve as an indicator of cancer. This makes the preservation of a mole important. One of the ways a mole can indicate a problem is by changing color. If it has been tattooed over with pigment, it may hinder your ability to spot any color differences. For your safety, it is best that a mole not be tattooed over.

However, a mole can be tattooed around. Sometimes moles are even incorporated purposely into the design to serve an artistic purpose. Be sure to keep an eye on your mole for any changes in size or color, and see a doctor immediately if it does."

i have a mole on my shoulder that i hatehatehatehate and since i have no real reason to worry about cancer (no family history, minimal unprotected exposure to uv light my whole life etc) i went ahead and got it tattooed over - i found that the colour didn't really take well at all...i'll probably get it redone at some point (the whole piece could use a little bit of a touch up) but the skin is definitely different...it also hurt a little more to get tattooed than the surrounding skin

I have a beauty mark (mole ) on my cheek...see the one on my avatar? When I want to highlight it, I just mark it with liquid eyeliner... or a sharp pencil.
If everything you try is a sure thing, you aren't taking enough risks. If you never fail, you put a limit on the degree to which you can succeed. In short, the only way to win big is to risk losing

Yep ^^^ Play it safe and just mark it in. I used to do Permanent Cosmetics, and we wouldn't do moles for that very reason.

    Sharpie pen?

Kidding, kind of. But seriously, with skin damage being as bad as it is lately, don't risk it. You could probably find someone to tat it in for you....but that's just kind of scary.
