Thumbs up Recommend a Good Fitness Book or Website

Since I just started exercising, I want as much help as possible. I'm very visual, so I like books and websites. So I thought I'd start this thread to share my new book I got that has been great, and to allow others to share their helpful material.

My recommendation is called "Banish your Belly, Butt & Thighs: The Real Woman's Guide to Body Shaping & Weight Loss". It's by the editors of the Prevention for Women health books series.

Upon first glance the book is hardcover and decently thick, so it kind of reminds you of a textbook for school However it's very non intimidating, and was ranked very highly on Amazon where I purchased it. Not only does it have great illustrations, it has great instruction.
There's beginner, intermediate, and experienced level laid out weekly exercise plans,

25 regular activities you do for fun that are great workouts and how to use them to your full advantage,

eating the right and wrong foods in each category, and yummy recipes,

Self coaching for a "new you" which takes common excuses and blocks and help you work through them,

and much more. I really recommend this to anybody who's beginning exercise and needs it laid out for them like a newbie. I really had no idea where to start.

What are some of your recommendations? Weight loss or fitness tools, tips, etc.?

    Book:
Fit For Life by Harvey & Marilyn Diamond

    Websites:
    www.mercola.com
    www.curezone.com

And i think the aerobics classes offered at the gym (like kickboxing, pilates etc.) are the best workout for the price. you can go to as many as you want, whenever you want, for only the price of a gym membership. plus everything else the gym offers like pools, weightroom, etc.

Two really good fitness websites are Bodybuilding.com and PT Online. Also Monica Brant has a great new book out that covers a lot of exercises, and nutrition.

I'm assuming the Fit for Life is associated with the Body for Life?

I HIGHLY rec Body for Life by Bill Phillips. If you follow the workout instructions exactly, you are in and out of the gym within 47 min at the most (I almost always get looks like "she's done ALREADY?") and you don't feel as if you have overextended yourself. It even gives you a cheat day. I didn't really follow the diet restrictions exactly, and still saw a noticeable difference within one to two weeks - muscle tone; more energy. I didn't dread going to the gym; even on my cardio days.

    Good luck!

    Tosca's book is amazing!!!

I'm also into the Phillips brothers books...The ABSolution by Shawn Phillips has helped me out and is so stupidly simple and common sense that I think even newbies to fitness can understand what he is trying to convey.

Bodybuilding.com is great a bible of sorts for me.

Since I also belong to the World Natural Sports Organization (WNSO) I have to give them a shout as well...There is a forum on the site where you can ask questions, gain insight, and also get supplement info from the pros and trainers.

Fit for Life was written by the Diamonds. I like to combine the theories of Fit for Life and Body for Life though.

Since I haven't been training hard, i've been sticking mostly witih Fit for Life (aka Natural Hygiene) principles.

    They're both good books.
