Default No voice but i need to work!

Is this possible? I'm guessing no. I make most of my dance sales by conversation first, and whenever I've gotten VIP's, all the custy wants me to do is talk with maybe a dance or two. I lost my voice Wednesday, when I was planning on working, but decided not to go in because it sounded so bad. Now, it's Friday night, and I wanted to work tonight as well, but it's literally just a whisper. I need to make at least $500 more before I leave for PDX, but my flight leaves Wednesday, which leaves my only work-able nights being Saturday and Monday. Would it be stupid of me to go into work tomorrow with my voice like this? Hopefully it will come back a little more tomorrow, I'm totally overloading on vitamins and homeopathic remedy stuff... but I just sound like a 70 year old smoker. It's pretty bad. Advice... go in.. don't go in?

Oh, my god -- Paris did this! Let me see if I can find her thread.

OK -- no luck -- hopefully she will see this and tell her funny story.

Damn I feel bad for your situation! I've been ther before. I went and whispered that I lost my voice and it really helps weed out the non-spenders. I say give it a shot, what do you have to lose, pun intended! The guys who want dances will empathize with you and the schmucks will lose interet and leave you alone. Go for it! Keep updating!

I've made myself work with no voice, and the attempting to talk over the music and the smoke in the club made everything worse and made it last longer.

Maybe you could bring post-it notes to work?

"Can I dance for you? Circle Y or N"

    Might be kind of cute...

I don't know- sorry hun. I used to work with a dancer that was deaf... I don't know how she communicated with custies, but she danced on stage by feeling the vibrations from the music. Maybe you could pretend to be deaf... lol- I don't know! Feel better!!!

How about a few "Cue Cards" on 3x5 cards or something.
    "Hi- I lost my voice"
    "Can I sit with you?"
"I can't talk, but I SURE can dance!"
    "Would you like a dance?"
    "NO I WON'T do THAT!"
    etc.

It won't appeal to everyone, but it might be a fun change from the "wanna dance" girls.

Let us know how it went.

^^^ thats a good idea. I went to work with no voice once and they play the music so loud, i was making shriek like noises to try to talk over it. The first guy I spoke to said "Is that contagious" and I couldn't even get out I had been screaming the night before at a wedding, so I said fuck this!

I've got five hours before I usually would go in.... but my voice is a whisper.. barely. I won't even answer my phone unless it's my parents or a really good friend who knows im sick... otherwise people would just think i'm crazy whispering in the phone.

so i guess I'll try for Monday... hopefully it will be back then

I worked one night like that and the money was awful, the customers thought I was being rude so I didnt have to talk as much. It was really hard.

Actually I have done this. I wrote a little note on an index card saying I lost my voice but would they like a dance anyway. I swear to God it worked! I got so many dances and I didn't have to talk with anyone! A lot of guys kinda liked the novelty and made a lot of jokes and stuff. It was a great hustle and I've been tempted to do it again, but I would prolly mess up and say something. I'm naturally pretty talkative so it would be hard not to talk if I could. Anyway, all I'm saying is that it worked for me, so if you really need the money you can make it work.

In March over the Grand Prix weekend which is the busiest time of year in Melbourne strip clubs I had no voice! There was laryngitis going around and several of us lost our voices. I could only whisper, which is kind of hard to hear over music. I still did well. Luckily a lovely dancer friend of mine walked around with me and hustled double dances saying "my friend here has lost her voice but it's ok she doesn't need to talk".

The guys mostly found it funny and got dances from me.
