Whaa..? I don't get it.. :/

*Wanders into thread, gets confused, and wanders back out*
Djoser, You just ran a cold shiver down my spine by posting this ...
How high does it go ?
.

Hostel 3?

It's for the POLE, sillies...
Im so confused and the pictures are so big that I can't figure it out
Djoser is far too skilled a photographer to be posting confusing pix. He must be challenging us to figure out what it is.
I think it is wood paneling in a bedroom.

Well, I'm not all that skilled a photographer, lol--I think it's the camera that is good--but thanks.
It's about 1/3rd of my ceiling--I live in a loft apartment and it has a high, peaked, natural wood ceiling, with lots of angles and two big beams going across it.
That is a pole I have tied to one of the beams, it's temporary until I get a nicer new one. I posted about it in the lounge.
But the picture is just supposed to show how cool looking the ceiling is--I love it!
I had drunk a lot of wine when I posted this, maybe that's why it wasn't more clear what it's supposed to be. But what's Hostel 3?

^^ hehe i win the guessing game!!!
"Hostel 3" was a reference to its mildly torture-chamber/hanging-like appearance.

No last time I checked DJoser was not into rope bondage, but I could be wrong.
Oh that wood....
Hey guys I think I'm loosing my mind? I know the signs I'm even considering actually using my myspace page!
I've come a long way since I believed in anything, and I've come half way around the world.
Where you come from is gone.
Where you thought you were going to was never there,
and where you are, ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

Ew, torture/murder shit is not my thing, no!
I went and cut the excess rope off so the pole looks neatly tied, relatively speaking, and took some more pictures--but now I am too lazy to post them, lol.
That's so weird, I would never think of hanging rope as something with such awful potential--but I never watch those kinds of movies.
This place is beautiful, like a cozy mountain cabin, only in Key West, lol--it's perfect for an artist, which means I should get off my ass and start drawing. The natural wood, angles, and high ceiling make it as cool a place as I have lived in, even if I would prefer somewhere I could have a cat, and my nice big loud stereo. But real estate is through the roof here, especially this close to where I work.

Agreed UtahMike.
Although if you take a close look, you can distinctly make out the wire guards along the ceiling, as well as the support beam (which must be load bearing if it is a rustic property).
You have yet to satisfy my inquiry. I could only imagine if it's 10 feet + ;
Oh, the potential for pole burn ...
You did mention before that it was a stainless steel pipe, non? How is it doing you ?

Sorry, Hot2trot, I didn't mean to be rude. The peak of the ceiling is about 14 feet high.
The steel pole (not stainless, just a 7$ electrical conduit pipe, lol) is slippery as hell and is making me feel like a newbie again--but I am catching up fast.
I didn't mean to make this so confusing or misleading a thread, I just love the ceiling here, and wanted to share the view.
Here's another picture of the ceiling, one from an old set of shots, and a new shot of the area before, without the nasty extra rope.

Is the whole place in naughty pine ?
How does that piping handle your weight? That looks like a great idea to just have simple practice on.

Like I posted in the Lounge thread about the pole itself--it's not going to break, and it's not going anywhere (even if it's just tied rather well at the top, and not secured very well at the bottom).
The thing is slippery as hell, though--and a taller pole than I am used to at 10' (I'm used to 8-9' feet tops). Plus the high up/upside down stuff makes me a bit nervous with the bottom not-quite-stable. So I have been temporarily reduced to the status of newbie pole tricker, lol...
CuriousJ, pretty much the whole place is pine or cedar or whatever it is, most of the walls and the ceiling both. It really is a beautiful loft, I will hate to leave it even if the landlord's manager is neurotic and creepy, and even if I can't have a kitty or play loud music.

I actually just found a way, quite simple really, to build a mini stage, and that's going in my basement to do tricks. Youjust take the plywood and 4 x 8's and get a flange to screw the pipe (if it's threaded) into it, build the frame around it, then fill the box/stage with cinder blocks to hold the weight. It's supposed to hold a lot of weight and not tip or anything.
Just my 2 cents, but yes, I checked out the pipes today, they'll hold a lot. And with being slippery, what about using chalk on your hands? Like the stuff used in gymnastics? It usually helped me in the sport, if I had sweaty hands, or needed some grip. Anyway, I probably sound stupid with all this, I know you're better at it than me, I'm still learning. But it's nice to talk to people who know about this.
Anyway, thanks for listening!

Yeah, I need to get some chalk. So much of it is attitude, though--if I don't think about how slippery the motherfucker is, I can do a lot more. Surprise, surprise!
It's weird, after more than 3 years without a pole in my house, I don't play on it very much--mostly because it's so goddamn slippery I have to be very serious to do anything serious at all. The basic 'Handspring' move is getting easier all the time, though--and this is a good thing.
I might take a picture soon, I need to look at the manual on my camera to see how the 'Delay/automatic' feature works. I could prop it a certain way and there it would be.
Thanks for replying...

when i first saw it i thought it was that contraption that the guy hung himself by the balls on....hehe im glad its for your pole!
I used to use mag/resin/chalk for gymnastics. But I don't like it for pole dancing it makes the pole too grippy. Depends what moves u r trying. Don't use it if u r gonna do spins or u will leave lots of skin behind.
