Default Alli ( the diet pill )

So it hit the shelves 2 days ago. For those that aren't aware it's the ONLY FDA approved diet pill . It's the 60 mg version of Xenical .

I just want to say that I think it's astounding that FINALLY the FDA realizes That there really did need to be something that does work and OTC.

I also like the fact that it comes with a lifestyles change book and work out plan. I've read a lil' on it because the fucking ads are everywhere.

I wonder how people taking it will be though considering that the side effect is oily ass discharge.

    BLECH

like for real..oil comes outta your ass. lol

I didn't see any other thread on here so I wasn't sure if people knew or not. I know a lot of girls on here are doing the diet and working out bit and constantly taking things that are way not healthy. This is a healthier option obviously and legal.

    Just a heads up.

I did some research on this, and it's actually pretty useless.

    Taken from message boards

The information on this product is so misleading. It says you can lose up to 50% more on this pill than dieting or exercising alone. Sounds great! I think most of us on a diet expect 1-2lb of weight loss per week (that is a nice steady weight loss). So then we expect Alli to help us lose .5 to 1lb extra per week right? That would make it live up to its 50% more claim.WELL FOLKS IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. WHY?Let's do the math. The suggested daily intake of fat on Alli is 15g per meal, 3 meals a day. That means they advise of only eating 45g of fat per day. There are 9 calories in each gram of fat. This means you should only ingest 405 calories of fat per day. The pill helps the body to not absorb up to 25% of the fat you ingest. This means it will only "get rid of" 101 calories per day (which is 25% of 405 for anyone confused). There are 3,500 calories in a pound. At 100 a day calorie deficit on Alli, it will take 35 days to lose an extra pound. Is this product really worth $50+ for a month supply to lose 1lb?Here are much easier/cheaper (and probably safer) ways to have 100 calories per day go bye bye...· Swimming energetically for just 15 minutes will burn 100 calories.
An hour of housework can burn as much as 100 calories.· Only have ten minutes? Jump rope. At 700 calories per hour, you can burn up 100 calories in just 10 minutes!· Go for a 10 minute brisk walk. Power walking burns 600 calories an hour. You can burn 100 in ten minutes· One 16 ounce Coke is 250 calories. Cut out one Coke a day and you'll be cutting out two and a half times the suggested calorie reduction.· If you drink your coffee with whole milk, you can save 100 calories a day by drinking two cups with skim milk instead

^ i just went to the website and already i'm turned off. it says that if you eat too much fat or basically dont follow your diet, you'll get sick. i dont want to be taking a pill as a warning, and if i want to have a fatty day i dont want to get sick because of it! the only thing i really like is that its fda approved.

HOnestly if you are dieting and taking this as a supplement it very well , will work.

I use to take Xenical ( bought it off line ) it made me shit horribly if I ate fast food or anything fried etc.

However, I dropped a LOT of weight quickly. I think ALLI works the same as Xenical did, in that forces out the fat. Whether you want it to or not. So basically it works like a fucking laxative.

There is no increased metabolism. Or anything like that. But if you are working out and yes it will make you cut out heavy fattening stuff.. you'll drop weight.

Yah you can't have a fatty day. Which is what it aims for. It's meant for people that need a dietary change as well as a lifestyle change. Those that are severly overweight or don't eat well., this is their wakeup call.

So it's meant for those that are serious and not just trying to drop vanity weight.

It "teaches" a person to eat better by making them avoid foods that will have their ass exploding lol

^ i know, and that'd prob be good for me! butttttt.. i dont know if i can honestly committ to that, ya know? of course i'm all for eating healthier and stuff, but i know myself and having healthy days every single day isnt realistic. if i want to pig out one night i'm going to! i'm scared to try most diet pills because i dont want to feel like i'm on coke and i'm afraid that's the effect most of them will have.

Since you can now make biodiesel fuel our of used grease, is it possible to convert this shit into biodiesel and then also get double credit for an environmentally friendly drug?

But really, if you limit your fat intake and calorie intake, you will lose weight anyway. This drug just helps you lose a little more, and like I pointed out, the expense isn't really worth losing an extra pound or 2.

I think it might just end up being motivation to avoid farting after eating that big mac.

I just don't see it being worth it when you can just avoid the fat and get your butt to the gym. And get around the greasy ass crack thing alltogether...plus save your 50$

Thank you thank you Kaylinn for saying everything I don't have the patience to!!!!

And just because something is FDA approved doesn't mean it's any good. The FDA gets so much of its funding now from pharmaceutical companies that "FDA Approved" might as well mean "FDA paid off". And how many other drugs that were approved have gone on to be withdrawn from shelves?

It all comes down to capital, and the desire for a quick fix.

the first time i saw the ad i was like.. wow i gotta try that
but then skeptisism if that is a word started.. anything that is big time in the media like this i'm wary of.. like the big ads for cortislim which people i know that took it didnt loose their belly fat and all that..
i then did a websearch and a few reviews on it gave it a poor rating.. one of the things is the side effect of anal leaking.. nasty!!!
but i'm keeping me keen eye on it.. who knows.. i just think when lotta dollars are behind it for it to have the big ads and stuff i get wary.. like the whole splenda thing that took off like a rocket and in my personal opinion it is one of those many franken foods

The anal leakage thing just throws me. I don't want to be sitting in class and just because I had a little more fat in my breakfast than usual my ass starts to leak...no thanks!

If anyone has taken it so far could ya let us know how bad the leakage thing is? Im afraid to even try is because of that.

anal leakage, is sooo... scarey. Imagine getting it on and your ass leaks.

    Holy fuck

Blech. Reminds me of those chips they made a few years ago that had that weird ass chemical in it and it caused people to leak out their ass.

^^You mean Olestra? Oh god those things made me so effing sick.

I'm still contemplating trying Alli though, I mean double the dosage and its prescription strength. Anything else I've tried has made me feel like I'm having a heart attack.

I feel like the pill is more like a Skinner behavior modification project. If you eat to much fat, you'll have skid marks on your panties and will probably stink. So you'll want to eat less fat.

So what happens when you cut back on the fat but increase sugar and meat. hmmmmmm.

The FDA is so full of it. Fat is good for you. It's all the fake foods (and being lazy) that make people fat.

^ yep! didn't they pull that off the shelf for good? Although I think I saw it not too long ago in the store.

And with the anal leakage., if you didn't fart... would you still get skid marks?

Olestra is still around. They don't market it as obviously as they used to since "anal leakage" isn't a very appitizing side effect. Its still availible in the Frito Lay "Light" chips if you check the ingredients.

olestras "anal leakage" thing is from people who would eat like 2 friggin bags of the chips just cuz they were "fat free" if you eat them in normal portion sizes, that kind of thing should not be an issue, lol

Personally, if I were trying to lose weight and doing everything right (proper nutrition and exercise) then hit a plateau, I'd try it.

I'd eat like a normal handful of chips and have the cramps from hell afterwards. Never had any other problems though.

EDIT- I just reread what I wrote earlier about wanting to try this shit and I appalled myself. I'm having a crappy low self esteem weekend over a comment my boyfriend made about my "chubby thighs". He was just being a bonehead but I've been fuming over it since. Its only natural to want to drop the weight asap but I'll feel better doing it with exercise. It seems impossible though. I suppose this is totally off topic now but I wanted to retract the crap I said earlier. Back to the treadmill....

^^^Yeah some people reacted horribly to Olestra. I was always proud of the fact that I have a GI tract crafted in God's own [GI tract's] image, and I always felt fine after scarfing down outrageous quantities of Olestra-chips. But really, I lost more weight (and kept it off) when I quit eating processed foods. I'm not a super-skinny girl, but I maintain a normal, slim appearance just by avoiding junk. Products like Alli make me suspicious and a little bit sad, because it's yet another band-aid pasted on the gaping wound of American Fatness. A band-aid of anal leakage. Mmmm.
