Default Abs Diet: Has anyone here tried it?

I was reading Women's Health magazine and I saw an article about the Abs Diet. Apparently it's supposed to help you lose weight from your stomach more quickly than other diets. My stomach has always been my problem area, so I'm thinking about trying it.

Here's an example of what you eat on a typical day on the Abs Diet:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices whole grain toast, 1 banana, 1 cup 1% or fat free milk

Snack: half a whole wheat pita with 1 tablespoon hummus

Lunch: 3 oz. sliced turkey breast in a whole wheat tortilla with mixed greens, tomato, and 2-3 slices avocado, 1 cup mixed green salad with 2 teaspoons olive oil and vinegar

Snack: 1 oz. almonds and 1 orange

Dinner: Spaghetti marinara: 1 cup cooked whole grain pasta topped with half a cup marinara sauce and 1 tablespoon grated Romano cheese, side salad of mixed greens, olive oil, and vinegar

    Snack: Low-fat ice cream sandwich

It sounds good because you get to eat plenty of food and it's food that I like. They recommend that you do abdominal work and weight lifting 3 times a week also, along with light cardio 3-5 times a week. You also get one cheat meal per week where you get to eat whatever you want.

Has anyone tried the Abs Diet? How effective is it? I think I'll start tomorrow and share my experiences with it. I have this exciting rock concert coming up in a month and I want to look sexy in my bikini.

You can not spot reduce - as in target a particular area to loose weight from.
Sounds like a crock to me. You can only loose weight overall and the way that your body does it will be individual to you.

While that IS generally true, about spot-reducing, isn't the point of the abs diet to reduce the bloating that happens during the food-related chemical reactions that cause gas? (And hence, bloating).

We did touch upon that a bit in my chemistry class ....not so much the Abs Diet, just the chemical reactions that occur as your stomach acids are breaking down different foods.

I just finished reading all 3 books. The book states that it IS NOT meant to spot reduce. However, it cuts out all the refined crap and trans fats which helps your body lose weight all over, including your abs.

Rozz has a rave on here somewhere about the diet, find it and check it out. I personally am going to start doing it, because I CANNOT do low carbs, and it seems really healthy overall.

This is one of the healthiest diets around! I do this when I'm not binging from munchies or parties.
