Cafe con Leche, the legendary party that was indisputably the birthplace of the genre of music, known as tribal house, celebrates its 15th Anniversary on Saturday June 23, 2007.
The spirit of Cafe con Leche has captured the hearts of many. Since the party concluded its run as a weekly event in 2000, Cafe con Leche has continued to do successful annual events in New York. International promoter and Director of Promotions for Pacha New York Rob Fernandez has been an ardent supporter over the years and continues to believe in the relevance of the party and its legacy. The recent renewed interest in the history of the party and its place in the history of house music encouraged its original promoters Naudio Feliz and Joey Sheridan to host this special PRIDE WEEKEND 15th year anniversary reunion party and to embark on a world tour of the party in January 2008.
On Saturday, June 23, 2007, Café con Leche at Pacha New York will be hosted by Yamil, Louis M., Father Chris, Atom and Cris AC. Additional performances expected by Perfidia and Joey Rolon. Cafe has always shared an alliance to the art scene and the world famous artist and fashion illustrator Alvaro will be in attendance. Graffiti legend and Keith Haring's assistant Andre Charles will be performing live art on stage.
Resident Cafe con Leche DJs are MERRITT and LORD G. There will be a performance by Latin house diva, LA INDIA. Doors will open at 10pm. There will be several after hour sets by well known DJs that DJ'd at Cafe in their early years. For tickets please go to pachanyc.com. For additional information please contact www.myspace/cafeconlecheevents.com
The Café con Leche parties made use of the Latin gay and bisexual scene as a bridge between cultures in a highly divided early 90's club scene in order to bring people of different cultures together in the splintering house music scene. A popular song about Cafe con Leche contained the words, "Were Here, The Gays, The Straights, The Bisexuals, Transsexuals, Were Here, Cafe con Leche!" The song epitomized the energy of Cafe con Leche. The tolerant atmosphere attracted many celebrities who found anonymity at Cafe con Leche. The Sunday night party became the underground music and club industry party of the week. After the DJs, Performers, Promoters, Bartenders and club staff worked all weekend, Cafe was their place to let go and have fun. Cafe became an incredible mix of celebrities, music industry and die hard club goers. For the real gay "House Scene," we are talking: House of Xtravaganza, House of Milan, House of Infinity, House of Aviance, etc, this was the place to be seen at the end of a week of balls and battling. This was the House of Field's stomping ground. House of Field's Perfidia, Paul Alexander and Joey Rolon ruled the stage and this was where Patricia Field's flock fell out every Sunday night. Even the adult industry relaxed at Cafe on Sunday and it was no shock to see the famous dancing with the male, female and transvestite hustlers taking a night off. For anyone fierce in the 1990's, Cafe was their Happy Hour away from the mainstream club scene.

I'm not in NY, but Toronto is having their Gay Pride Parade on Sunday as well. Right now, I can hear people setting up for the Dyke March outside of my apartment. The Dyke March will be starting in an hour. Festivities in my neighbourhood will be going on all weekend. Yeah! The parade tomorrow will be a blast!
^^I was just going to post that! I'm not planning on going, the bf is not too excited to go to something like that.
