    Default St. John's Wort

I did a search on this but didn't find too much information.

I just picked up a tincture of this today. My depression is pretty mild and since I've been feeling better with sunshine+exercise, I've decided to go the natural route before trying pharmaceuticals.

So, does anyone take this and what is your experience with it?

Oh yeah, I'm not on the pill...so no worries there.

LOL, I was all about to post a warning on the birth control pill until I saw that last line. Good for you looking out! My mom tried St. John's Wort for her depression and found it helped. I've been on the pill since I was 16 so I've never tried it myself. If I wasn't on the pill, I would. I haven't heard any horror stories about it.

It worked for me quite well. I started taking 2 pills a day, then decreased to 1 a day after about 3 months cause I felt better. Just recently I stopped takign it as I feel it isn't needed anymore.

If you're bi-polar you should avoid it.

^ True! I put my ex on it, and it helped soooo much! Then I suggested it to a friend of mine, who it turns out is bi-polar, and she can't take it. Not sure why though......

I loved it, but don't take it anymore because it made me sun-sensitive & I love my sunshine.

I'm good about wearing sunscreen and not going out at high noon...but I hope it doesn't make me too sensitive to the sun. I may need to get a parasol.

I'm not bipolar, though I'm curious about why it's bad for those with the condition.

It can trigger and intensify manic episodes.
