    Default Favorite Colognes/Avoided Colognes?

I've been a creature of habit for years with regards to cologne, and I've stopped counting the compliments I've received while wearing Issey Miyake. Lately, I've contemplated switching back to Boucheron or Armani's Acqua di Gio just to "mix things up."

Being an SC junkie, I'll be choosing wisely. Are there any other colognes that dancers find particularly pleasing? What about repellent, eye-watering colognes? (even a faint whiff of "Farenheit" by Christian Dior gives me throbbing headaches)...

    ohh..I LOVE aqua di gio

Hugo is my favorite. It smells wonderful on my boy.

    And repellant....

Old Spice, LMAO. Cause that just smells like my dad, and really, you don't wanna remind a dancer of her father while she's dancing on you naked

^^I agree about Old Spice (original scent, anyway), waaaay too dad-smelling.

I like most colognes really, as long as a person doesn't bathe in it. I'd rather dance for a sweaty guy than a guy with too much cologne.

One thing I love more than any cologne in the world: wood. If a guy smells like sawn lumber, a campfire or a cedar chest, I'm in HEAVEN! Its so manly and natural!

I really like some of the Axe body washes, because they aren't too strong. Otherwise I must agree that wood smells are excellent. There was a great Body Shop men's cologne that smelled of sandalwood. *drool*

Really hate: Anything Calvin Klein. Instant wheezing and eye watering. And TOO much Drakkar. Just the tiniest bit reminds me of Italian boys in Cavariccis from high school. *love* But usually it's a nose onslaught. I think a lot of guys still use the same stuff from high school and their noses have become immune to it.

Faves- Aqua De Gio, Cool Water, and Axe (I always asked customers what they were wearing.)

NOT fave- anything with strong patchouli oil scent...It's enough to make me not talk to the wearer.

That was the one thing I liked about when I worked at the sawmill...after a long day of work, you obviously sweated. BUT...you were covered in wood dust...smelled like a pine tree. And that smell stays with you for a while, whereas the sweat comes off in the shower.

When I go to the SC these days, though, I either wear Axe, or a cologne called "Friktion". Don't remember who it's from, but it's always been well-received. As with everything, however, moderation is key.

I third the Aqua di Gio. Anything with notes of patchouli makes me go wild....

My favourite customer wears farenheit, i love it. I have complimented him on it every time he comes in and he always wears it now.

I also LOVE calvin klein ETERNITY (an oldie but a goodie).

    I like JOOP.

I dont like cheaps ones like old spice or brut. They are old man colognes.

EDIT: dont wear anything that smells like fly spray. I have noticed a few guys whose cologne has a fly spray tang to it, its gross.

I'm sure he does! It's a popular fragrance from a respected designer.

I first discovered my Fahrenheit intolerance the hard way when I received it as a Christmas gift from a close friend. I wore it on the same day and thought that I was coming down with the flu! It wasn't until the second time I put some on that I recognized the allergic reaction...

I have this Estee Lauder 'Beautiful' lotion and perfume set that a customer got me--Really expensive, huge gift set in a satin box and I fucking love it.... But it makes me smell like an old woman. WTF am I supposed to do with this??

Did you find out which ingredient that u are allergic too? You should make sure u dont buy any colognes in the future with that in it.

I was allergic to a doll I had as a kid. It was one of the strawberry shortcake friends (not strawberry shortcake herself but one of her buddies). The dolls were scented and whenever I played with this particular doll I would get extremely nauseas. We finally worked out it was the doll. I dont know if I was allergic per se but the scent definately caused a physical response from me.

I wear Acqua Di Gio, and I walked past a girl at a store once, and she says, "MMM he smells good." I would recommend that kind to any guy.

I used to be a big fan of drakar, but there was a thread here a while ago that had some suggestions. I went to the cologne store and smelled about a 100 colognes. I settled on Kenneth Coles BLACK, and Armani CODE love them both. Thanks ladies

i like the scents that smell "natural" ...earthy or spicy kind of scents. i -loathe- anything that smells like flowers (for both men and women) or that smells overly "perfume/cologney".

IMO (and the opinion of most girls i know) the best kind of scent is one that's subtle. you want it to have enough staying power to have an effect, but you don't want to be able to smell it when you're more than "touching distance" from someone. IOW if i smell you as you're walking by, and you're 10 feet away at the time, i don't care HOW great the smell itself is, i'm not going near you.

    i'll get a massive headache.

you don't have to spend a fortune on scents, but i think you -do- have to spend in at least the medium range to get the scents that have that sort of not-over-powering-staying-power. most of the "cheap" scents for guys have to be poured on.

oh and (i almost forgot) i think it's best not to buy anything that's been popular for more than 5 years (like drakkar and etc). because by now, nearly everyone "knew someone who wore that" and so they already have an emotional connection with it.. one that might not be a good one.

Hehe. Yeah CK stuff does me in.

I regift those gift boxes of perfume! Even if you've opened it, you could use the pieces inside for stocking stuffers and keep the box.

Once I got a box of CK Obsession! Noooo!

I absolutely adore any sort of bay rum scent. Burts Bees in particular but it was recently discontinued and I believe Bath and Body Works carries another brand thats similar. I think its nice and natural but very manly smelling. *swoon*

I can't stand some of the Axe sprays. I think its more because guys who wear them tend to load them on heavily until I want to gag.

Marc Jacobs for Men. I had my driver ask me what my cologne was last week.

It doesn't get "the girls in my vicinity to drop their panties;" I'd like to think I have other, more meaningful attributes to induce that kind of behavior.
