    Thumbs down Fingerprints,WTF!!

So this weekend we had a meeting, where we were informed, beginning in a couple of weeks, we will give our thumb print every shift as our sign in and sign out. This new system also snaps our picture as we're giving up our print. This feels like complete BULLSHIT! Creepy invasion of privacy! I really don't see how this will benefit our owner.

Anyone else been through this? Comments, suggestions? Again, I'm not talking about giving a set, one time, that stays with the county...this will be a twice daily thing at the club. Thanks for any input!!

Whoaaaaa... quittin' time. Seriously. There is absolutely no reason the club needs to invade your privacy that way. I don't care how good the money is, I would quit.

Retinal scans would be the way to go. Less messy.

    Is that at Christie's?

Doesn't SR in Vegas do an electronic thumbprint when you check in?

I wouldn't really worry about it. I've done it at OG's for years. The reason they do it is because anybody could really just walk off the street with their sherrif's card, pay their fee and work there if we didn't. They have thousands of girls on their roster and it's impossible to control.

We also make the guys give their fingerprints when they do a credit card, and for some reason, they get weirded out by it. The reason we do it is to prevent them from claiming their card was stolen or they were over charged.

Really, if somebody wanted your fingerprints that badly, they could fingerprint anything you touched. It's not anything to worry about. Even the tanning bed and gym I go to has finger print technology now. It's a way to make sure only members, not people with borrowed or stolen cards, can get in. I feel like all these "finger print" security measures help to protect my safety and don't bother me at all.

I can understand both sides, but if it's something you are fully not cool with it's your right to leave. I'm not sure how offen, if ever, people are having their friend clock them in if they are going to be a little late. Not that I fully understand how each club's pay plans work but I have seen that lateness is a no-no and this maybe the club trying to crack down on it. The club may try to spin it in a good light for you, but it is most likely better for them. Like VegasPrincess said if someone wants you fingerprints there are many many way to get them without you even knowing it.

Almost ALL clubs in vegas make you give a fingerprint to check in...so it's pretty common out here, maybe your club is just updating to a new system...

I'd get weirded out by it too, and would be right out of there.

Hard to believe that there's a club that tries it on the custies! You wonder why they might be weirded out by it? I don't. Same reason I would... last thing I'd want is for a club I work at to have a file of such things - yes, I realise that someone can pick them up easily, but that's different from keeping them deliberately in electronic form.

One could make people do a picture sign-in/out, that would be just as effective without requiring fingerprints. Basically, make 'em stand in front of the webcam and push a button on the computer. I find it's still intrusive, but not quite as badly.

A cruder and quite effective method is to have the doorman/housemom/whoever maintain a sign-in book in the old fashioned style. It can even be semi-unattended if you make sure that everyone is required to use a reasonably complex signature. A good quality signature is quite difficult to forge.

Re: the credit cards... isn't that the point of the signature? I wonder how the credit card companies would react to finding out that the club does this. I'll bet that they wouldn't like it, somehow.

yes, except how many guys sign just a doodle when they are drunk?

Our club does a fingerprint for guys charging funny money. I'm glad they do. That way the guy can't contest the charges. Lots of guys get creeped out by it though, so they do it after he signed 14 receipts. (I'd have more issue with that!)

Do you remember what happened at Scores with American Express a few years ago? Even though he signed it, he claimed some of the charges were fraudulent and wouldn't pay his bill. American Express still had to pay Scores, so they were out the money. So I think that CC companies probably like the fingerprinting.

My thumbs would be mysterious and consistently covered with a layer of sealant or similar print-altering substance.

Seriously though, if it's not worth it to put up with this invasion of privacy, then work elsewhere. Almost every security system can be jammed up.

while i understand the privacy thing but the further we head into the future the more hi-tech we get. also if picture taking is invasion then what about all the cameras in the club watching the custies behavior they are also watching you.

It's not that big a deal. As mentioned above most Vegas clubs use that technology and your club is just adopting it. Embrace the future!!

So which club is it in AZ?

Besides doing it at most Vegas clubs I also do it at my tanning salon. It's more of a check in/out system than anything.

I've worked at clubs that made guys do this for funny money too. Ive never had a club get dancers prints, but my tanning salon does. Isnt technology great? All hail Big Brother!

Exactly! This shit just creeps me out. So when are we going to start putting ID chips in our newborns? (like the one I have in my dog) I guess I'm old fashioned...this kinda thing makes me feel way too interconnected with the "powers that be". People saying "oh it's a safety thing"...I say where did my freedom go? (while we're at it take the fucking cameras off me!)

BTW for those asking, this is at Christies Phoenix.

So long as everyone keeps conforming to this kind of shit, it will keep happening and keep getting worse. I still refuse to pee in a cup, unless it has something to do with keeping my baby healthy when I'm preg. Total b.s.

Did it in the Bronx...no big deal...I stayed anonymous and it's ancient history. I have a way bigger issue with random drug testing.

The signature can be compared against the one on the back of the card. If they're too drunk to reproduce their signature more-or-less legibly, I think that they're too drunk to be charging more money on their card, and the club deserves the issues it gets, if not for that, for letting a patron get too intoxicated. It's even questionable whether one can legally agree to a contract (for the purchase of funny money, or whatever) in such a drunk state, so I can definitely see why the club could have issues collecting. Consider that some drunks can be violent, and it's probably better for the girls on the overall too if they don't let them get that drunk.

Yes, I realise that this is an idealised view, but still. I've never been so drunk that I can't reproduce my signature legibly enough...

    I actually agree with you here ^ ^ ^

I understand the reason to thumb print a guy on his credit card for theft purposes. Most guys who are using a stolen credit card aren't going to be crazy about leaving a thumb print. But most clubs use this as a method to prevent charge backs, they say "Hey, he signed it AND gave thumb print, he knew what he was doing!" But taking advantage of a totally drunk guy, so drunk he can't sign his name, to me that is as bad as theft. Not saying that I haven't let it happen or taken the money from such a scenario before, pretty sure we all have, but I don't think it's right.

As for doing a thumb print when you go to work, I'm not sure what I think about that, it feels sort of creepy to me. I allready don't trust strip clubs and owners/managers as it is, doing something like this would make me nervous I think.

Have you ever had a customer get even moderately drunk and then sticker shock when the bill came? Did you get worried about being beat out of the money, or do you work in one of those mystical strip clubs where the club pays you when the customer refuses to pay? It's not just the club's issue when a guy is too drunk to pay. The girl is going to get screwed over too.

Besides, being too drunk to realize what going on is not a good enough reason not to pay. It's a business. Services and goods were issued. You have to pay. The responsibility shouldn't lie with the business. What if I was a mail-order or internet business and someone ordered from me? if you can't handle your alcohol, then you shouldn't be in an arena where it's possible to go overboard. Do you think casinos give the money back to drunks that overbet, even though they are the ones providing the alcohol?

    Personal accountability is the issue.

sorry to get off on a tangent here....
